Alliance League
Plays 2nd Series
The Ruthonians and the Inde
pendents, two of the strongest
girls teams in the Alliance Basket-
bill League, will clash in the open
ing game of a triple-header to be
played on Sunday, December 19,
at 2 45 P. M. In the second game,
the Strausseans, who last year won
the senior league, will meet the
Nordaus. The final match will be
between the S. O. Z. and the D. S.
I a newcomer to the junior divi
sion.
The Jacobeans defeated the Cor-
dozians in the opening game of
the League last Sunday. In the
feature game of the day, the S. P.
C. won from A. B. C. and in the
Anal game S. O. Z. was the victor
over Z. I. P-

Mayor Dizengoff, on the following

Today, as Dr. Berger pointed
out it is inspiring to see Jewish
sailors in their blue-and-white
uniforms with the Mogen David
emblem upon their caps. Once they
were refugees, bent with defeat;
now they walk with shoulders
erect, smiles upon their wind-
burned faces.
Dr. Berger revealed that there
are many branches of Nachschon
maritime work. Notable among
these branches is the fishing in
dustry, which has made it possible
for Palestine to produce 85 per
cent of the canned and uncanned
fish consumed in the country.
Today, $10,000,000 annually is
paid into the Italian treasury by
Palestine Jews who utilize the two
principal steamships of Italy. That
money is being used to buy am
munition for the Arabs of Pales
tine and it is the desire of Nach
schon to build or buy two steam
ships of its own. Dr. Berger is
here to interest Atlantans in Naeh-
schon’s aims and to encourage the
purchase of Nachschon stock. He
will be guest speaker at the Aha-

morning, with an Advisor’s Con
ference scheduled for Wednesday
morning with Regional Deputy
Elliott Serotta of Augusta in
charge. Problems and activities
of the chapters of the Southern
Region will be discussed.
On Wednesday evening, the final
banquet will be held.with H. A.
Alexander as the principal speaker.
Mr. Alexander is a prominent
local, district and national B’nai
B’rith leader, and was one of the
founders of the local chapter of
AZA seven years ago.

completed by the Atlanta Chapter
184 of AZA for the First Southern
Regional Tournament of District
Five to be held here on December
27. 28. and 29.
In addition to numerous social
affairs, the tournament will cli
max the year’s activities in ora
tory, debating, and basketball The
oratorical contest will take place
on Monday night, December 27,
at 7:30 o'clock at the Ansley Hotel.
Three prominent judges have been
selected for the occasion. Sub
ject for oration is “Jewish Contri
butions to Democracy.” Last year’s
winner, Lee Baker, of Columbia,
S. C., will speak again ,and the
public is invited to attend.
Debates will take place on Mon
day afternoon, and Tuesday morn
ing and afternoon, with the finals
scheduled for 11:00 A. M. on Wed
nesday at the Ansley Hotel. The
subject for debate will be on
