Berlin Players
Offer New Play
“Itzik Seeks A Bride,” a tuneful
musical comedy, will be presented
at the Atlanta Theatre by the Jack
Berlin Yiddish Players on Sunday
evening, December 19, at 8:30
o’clock. Scoring with their pres
entation last Sunday of "Divorce
at Sing Sing," the players were
prevailed upon by an enthusiastic
! audience to give a performance of
the musical play this Sunday.
The story concerns the misad-
i ventures of an illiterate boy, play-
I ed by Jack Berlin, who does not
; know how to declare his affections
for the girl with whom he has fall
en in love. Complications ensue
when "Itzik” asks his own brother
j to speak for him.
Supporting Mr. Berlin are Nellie
Green. Ida Bodner, Nat Kaufman.
Louis Green, Elaine Ina, and A1
Rosenstein. Ten Yiddish musical
numbers are woven through the
I hilarious story.
The magic and glamour of New
York’s new center of entertain
ment is captured in the Walter
Wanger production, "52nd Street,"
which today began an engagement
at Loew’s Grand.
“52nd Street” is the musical
drama of the great transition of a
street, from the exclusive residen
tial section of New York’s wealthy
families to a swingy lane, where
nightly the hot trumpets enter
tain Manhattanites.
The production is studded with
music, txmiedy and dancing, and
beautiful aristocrat from a web of
terror, starring Marlene Dietrich
and Robert Donat, Sunday and
Monday. Double feature bill, off
ering two full-length feature films,
Tuesday and Wednesday. Edward
Arnold is seen as ruthless Jim
Fisk of old New York and Frences
Farmer plays the role of a cele
brated actress in “Toast of New
York,” Thursday and Friday. The
Christmas day offering on Satur
day will be "San Quentin,” a thrill
ing prison drama, with Pat O’Brien
and Ann Sheridan.
