ISA KREMER
roles in the Russian opera to sing
between acts in a performance
given in her honor. The animal
was brought out upon the stage
by the manager, and a few minutes
later Mme. Kremer began a career
that was destined to change her
from a well-known opera singer
to one of the most celebrated inter
preters of folk songs in the world.
In her dressing room after the
performance, wondering how she
was to dispose of the horse, Mme
Kremer received on offer for ten
recitals in Moscow and Petrograd.
It was the end of the operatic
season and a few days later she
signed the contract.
Her real debut on the concert
stage was made in Moscow, where
critics hailed her as a 'new sen
sation” and in twenty-four hours
she had become the “darling” of
the public. Invitations to sing
came from every part of Russia,
and when her contract expired,
Mme Kremer’s manager offered
for one recital the price he had
paid for ten.
Isa Kremer will be presented in
Atlanta under the auspices of the
Workmen’s Circle, and her ap
pearance is attended by wide in
terest in music circles. Her pro
gram will include “Shir Avoda,”
labor songs of Palestine by Bialik;
“Kattarina,” an Italian folk song;
“Yes, Sir,” an old English melody;
“Little Sparrow,” Kentucky moun
tain folk song; “Mucho te quero,”
a Spanish-Agentinc air, and a
number of songs of old and modern

I Met My Love
Again"'
A Walter Wanger Production
co-starring Joan Bennett and Hen
ry Fonda, with Dame May Whitty,
Alan Marshal, Ixmi.se Platt, Alan
Baxter, Tim Holt and Dorothy
Stlckney.
The celebrated Walter Wanger
“touch" lifts a featherweight story
into r vastly attractive, although
inconsequential, drama in "I Met
My Love Again," the current at
traction at Loevv’s Grand. The
vagaries of the characters who
move through the new film assume,
as Mr. Wanger’s “touch” becomes
more and more pronounced, a cer
tain dignity and dramatic value,
which if not inherent in the story,
largely makes it palatable.
Joan Bennett and Henry Fonda
bring a quality of youth and fresh
ness to their roles as young lovers
in “I Met My Love Again.” Alan
Marshal, as a writer of hack fic
tion, offers Miss Bennett the shel
ter of his cabin during a snow
storm, and dazzles her with veiled
references to "Freud and Paris and
life."
All this is played remarkably
well by the stars, who are given
excellent support by Alan Mar
shal, as the dissolute writer, Dame
May Whitty as Aunt Ben, and
Dorothy Stickney, who was once
a member of the old Forsyth Stock
Company in Atlanta. It is Mr.
Wanger’s “touch,” however, which
gives “I Met My Love Again" its
memorability.
