BERNARD .J. KANE
President, Catholic Laymen's
Association of Qeorgia
It is a pleasure to extend,
on behalf of the Catholic
Laymen’s Association of
Georgia, a word of greeting
to our Jewish friends at the
time of the festival which
marks the beginning of
their New Year.
That we Catholics enter
tain a more intimate sym
pathy with you these days
is natural, for Catholics too
are suffering barbarous
treatment where the fury
of totalitarianism has been
unleashed. Our horror at
the outrages inflicted upon
helpless people by anti-Se
mitic forces has found its
most recent expression in
the protest of His Holiness
Pope Pius XII against the
attitude of Vichy-France
toward the Jews.
May our God, who shed
His favor on the patriarchs
of old, Abraham. Isaac and
Jacob, shower also His
blessing on their descend
ants during the coming
year, and speed the day
when Catholics and Jews,
throughout the world, may
everywhere dwell together
in peace and understanding
as they do in Georgia.
