New Year Greetings
On a day when the sacred things for which our

becomes the supreme theme of our national.

thought.
UNITED we shall defy and destroy any menace
to our liberty.
DIVIDED we shall go the route of the divided
European nations.
Naturally, then, the first concern of Gate City
Lodge No. 144, B’nai B’rith, during this crisis is
unity and the eliminaton of all factors of division.
It means uniting behind our chosen leaders and
assisting those in charge to an all-out victory for
the United Nations.
To he Atlanta Jewish Community we are thank
ful for its full support these past years, and take
time out to exceed our very good wishes on this
Rosh Hashonah.

B’NAI B’RITII
New Year Greetings
ROSH HASHONAH—an oasis of faith in
the desert of life—a time for replenishing the
spring of hope and spiritual regeneration.
The history of yester-year is the spring of
our inspiration for tomorrow.
Duing this new year and the years to come,
the Jewish people . . . everlasting as eternity
. . . can be depended on to hold aloft the torch
of enlightenment in a time of darkness, illumi
nating the path of social justice and peace and
understanding among mankind.
On Rosh Hashonah—we bow our head and
bend our knees, and give thanks in the hope
for peaceful days to come.

Adult Campers “Inspired”
by Glorious Days at Camp
The fifteenth season of camping
sponsored by the Jewish Educa
tional Alliance was concluded with
highly successful camp for
Adults during the Labor Day week
end. The four day session attended
by campers from Atlanta and Grif
fin finished out an eleven week
season (the longest ever attempt
ed by the JEA) at Camp Daniel
Morgan, the Alliance camp, near
Ruthledge, Georgia.
A whole season's activities were
crowded into these few days and
the enjoyment and pleasure which
the program afforded can best be
judged by a unanimous request
made by the campers- This request
was for a longer Adult session in
the future so that they could reap
the benefits of a regular vacation.
The high spot of the session was
Monday when the campers arose
at 6 o’clock and went out on the
lake in boats to observe the sun
rise. After the sun came up and
the campers had all been thrilled
by the glorious sight, they went in ■ B°bds for Victory

sterner stuff and after breakfast
they were still raring to go and
go they did.
They waded up stream explor
ing the creek. When they came to
the Mill wheel there were many
exclamations of surprise at its
hugeness. There were also several
imaginative mental meanderings
among the group as to the use to
which the Old Mill had been put
in days long gone by.
Pushing further up stream the
group arrived at the dam and
spent a delightful half-hour un
derneath a once great water fall.
Later the campers climbed over
the dam and explored the country
side around the upper portion of
the stream.
Upon return to camp there was
another swim and by this time the
sedate city life had begun to tell
on some of the campers, though
tired every one was happy.
Later that afternoon when peo
ple began to think of going home
there were many sighs of regret
and wishes for a longer stay.

Fall and Winter Program
Emphasizes Fitness
for Victory
The JEA fall and winter pro
gram promises to be bigger and'
better than ever before. Services
to the community at large and the
individuals therein will be greatly
expanded.
The unusual conditions existing
today, place great emphasis on
community cooperation. The JEA
plans to work closely with Civilian
Defense officials, the Red Cross
and the War Agencies in doing its
part in a coordinated community
program in connection with a
united effort for Victory. The fa
cilities and activities of the Alli
ance will continue to be open to
all men in the armed forces in
full cooperation with the USO
agencies and the Atlanta Service
Men’s Center.

stated Mr. Alexander, ‘‘with full
