On June 30th. 1947. the Dis
trict Five AZA Convention will
commence a gala four days of di
versified activities. The scene of
the events will be Atlanta, Ga.,
home of magnolias, poach blos
soms and a rather crowded gover
nor's mansion. Festivities will ac
tually start on the eve of the 29th
with a pre-convention dance and
run through July 3rd.
This year, for the first time in '
the history of the district, the con
vention is being held at the close
of the school term. The thought
behind this change is to enlarge
the participation for this annual
affair. In the past, because the
convention usually occurred in the
Spring, very few alephs outside of
the regional winners and delegates
attended. As a result the activi
ties were generally limited to the
official tournaments and business
sessions. This year, as many alephs
as possible are being encouraged
to come down and play an active
role in the events.
Finals in the basketball, debat
ing and oratory contests will be
