to Jack Dittler, of Columbia. S. C.,
formerly of Atlanta. The marriage

The bride-elect recently received
her A.B. degree from the Uni
versity of Georgia.
Mr. Dittler, the son of Mi - , and
Mrs. J. Dittler, served three years
in the Navy, and is now a stu
dent at the University of Georgia.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Zaban an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Miss Helen Zaban, to
Alvin Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Miller.
Mr. Miller was recently dis
charged from the U. S. Nary.
KALISH—SPECTOR
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kalish
announce the engagement of their
daughter, Mies Jacquelyn Kalish,
to J. Bernard Spetor, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Spector.
The marriage will be solemnised
July 2 at the Progressive Club.

AUGUSTA. — In a ceremony
taking place Sunday, June 8, at
1:30 p.m., at the home of the
bride’s parents, Miss Florence Do-
tinsky. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Dolinaky of Augusta, be
came the bride of Mr. Ben Popkin,
son of Mrs. Sara Popkin. Rabbi
Michael Kurtz and Rev. Funk offi
ciated.

Immediately following the cere
mony, a buffet dinner was held
at the home of the bride’s parents.

SAVANNAH.—TT>e marriage of
Miss Betty Marcus, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Marcus, and
Neal Hornstein, was solemnized
June 7. in the Gold Room of the
Hotel De Soto. The ceremony was
performed by Rabbi Abraham I.
Rosenberg, assisted by the Rev.
H. Geffen. in the presence of the
families and close friends.
The bride had her aunt, Mrs.
David Primrock. of Denver, as her
matron of honor her sister. Miss
Selina Marcus, as her maid of
honor, and Mrs. Joseph Goldberg,
sister of the groom, as Mrs. Gary
Lubar, cousin, as bridesmaids.
The groom's father, Samuel
Hornstein, served as his son's best
man. Groomsmen were Joseph
Goldberg. Albert Hornstein, Ju
lian Bono and Jack Dinerman.
Out-of-town guests for the
wedding were Mrs. David Prim-
rock, of Denver: Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Rocklin, of Miami Beach;

SAVANNAH.— Miss Doris Shir
ley Berber, daughter of Samuel
Gerber and Mrs. Lillian Gerber,
and William Jay Blum, son of
Mr. and Mrs. I. Blum of Fort
Worth, will be married June 22
at the Agudath Achim Synagogue
by Rabbi Isidore Barnette.
Miss Gerber will be given in
marriage by her father. Her sister,
Mrs. James L. Goldberg, will serve
as matron of honor. Bridesmaids
will be Mrs. Sophie Weinstein,
sister of the groom. Miss Celia
Hazsman and Miss Pauline Din
erman. Marx Gerger, brother of
the bride, will be the best man and
groomsmen will be Max Wein- |
stein, Julius Blum and Harold
Blumberg.

SAVANNAH.—The marriage of
Miss Ada Annette Harris, the
daughter of Mrs. Abe Harris, and
Melvin Karp, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Abe Karp was solemnized
June 11 at the General Oglethorpe
Hotel. The ceremony was per
formed by Rabbi Isadore Barnette.
Mrs. R. L. Weinstein of Fair
mont, N. C., was her sister’s ma
tron of honor. Bridesmaids were
Mrs. George Alman, Miss Theresa
Banner of Conway, Miss Betty
Chernoff of Broxton, and Miss
Shirley Feldman of Chaleston.
Misses Patricia Ann Banner of
Confway and Carol Jackson of
Doughs, were junior bridesmaids.
Harriet Leah Banner was the
flower girl.
Julius Kaminsky was his neph
ew’s best man. Groomsmen were
Leon Kaminsky. Jack Fine, La-
mont Danzig and Andrews and
Charles Harris of Ocilla. The ush
ers were Iocon Harris, Charlie
Green, Sanford Wexler and
George Altman. The ring bearer
was Alan Barry Weinstein of
Fairmont.

When weddings are being
planned this summer. Ft may be
a little difficult finding a rabbi.
Many will be on vacation.—scat
tered all over the United States
and Canada, too.
Rabbi Rothchild has left for a
two-week stay in Pittsburgh, his
former rabbinate. On June 24 he
will attend the Central Confer
ence of American Rabbis in Mon
treal. He is motoring to enjoy scen
ic points en route. Of course his
wife is along.
Dr. David Marx, the Temple’s
emeritus rabbi, is conducting ser
vices in the meanwhile. At present
Dr. Marx hasn’t made plans for
the summer.
A lot of territory is being cov
ered by Rabbi Harry Epstein on
his vacation. First there is a two-
week stay in Miami. From there
he will head for Chicago where
he'll visit his parents. Rabbi and
Mrs. Epstein. Then his itinerary
calls for a stay in New York. He’s
being accompanied by his wife
and two daughters. Ranina and
Davida.
The Rev. Philip Fried, Hebrew-
instructor for the Ahavath Achim
Congregation, will not break away
from his Atlanta duties until July
24 when the Hebrew School classes
close. He’s planning to motor to
Atlantic City and incidentally he
is looking for passengers to keep
him company. Mrs. Fried will leave
Atlanta the first week of July,
A bachelor’s life is in store for
Rabbi Friedman and Rabbi Geffen.
Rabbi Friedman recently returned
from Baltimore where he left his
»wife and family. In July he’s re
joining Mrs. Friedman and they
tore going to the mountains in
Woodridge, N. Y. Mrs. Geffen is
lip St. Louis visiting her dauhter

a Christian school at Pleasant Hill,
Tenn.; teach at another school for
Christian ministers in Atlanta,
under the auspices of the Jewish
Chatauqua Society. Later he will
take a few weeks vacation.
Rabbi and Mrs. Joseph Cohen
are planning a trip later on in
the season.
Rabbi A. Finesilver, who’s made
such a splendid record at Hillel
House in Athens, will take time-
off from his University of Georgia
assignment and with his wife visit
in Canada, his home.
Another Georgia Rabbi to at
tend the Montreal Conference will
be Rabbi Isaac Marcuson of Ma
con. He’s the administrative sec
retary.
