Orlando will be the scene on
Oct. 4-5 of the first annual Florida
State Zionist Youth Conclave,
where some 100 young Zionists
fro mthe 12 chapters of Jr. Hadas-
sah, Masada and IZFA will as
semble for a two-day conference
and social gathering.
Plans for the conclave are be
ing arranged by the co-ed Masada
chapter of Orlando, under the di
rection of Stanley Backer. William
Jacob, Larry Levy and Dr. Sam
Sulman. Invitations have been
s:nt to all young Zionist groups,
and prospective leaders of groups,
in Miami Beach, Miami, Daytona
Beach, St. Petersburg, Tampa,
Jacksonville, West Palm Beach

Jacksonville Hears Schader as Community
Launches 1947 United Welfare Campaign
JACKSONVILLE — Rabbi Hers-
chel Schacter. first Jewish chap
lain to enter the notorious Buch-
enwald concentration camp with
tlie liberating U. S. infantry, was
the keynote speaker Sept. 21, as
Jacksonville’s 1947 United cam
paign was launched.
Rabbi Schacter, spiritual leader
of the Mosholu Jewish Center in ;
the Bronx, advanced through bat
tle scarred Germany with forward
units of the American Army and
with infantrymen he entered
Buchenwald when its horrors were
still to be seen and never for
gotten.
He gained wide recognition for
his immediate steps to help the
liberated concentration camp sur
vivors, organizing them into the
Jewish Committee on Buchenwald.
the first post-Hitler Jewish organ
ization on German soil.
He is a powerful speaker and is
remembered for an appearance in
Atlanta during 1946.

sonville's $350,000 drive, according
to Sagi Wolf son, president of the
Jewish Community Council.

TO MEET IN ATLANTA
The Southern Inter-Regional
Zionist Youth Commission, com
posed of officials of all Zionist
groups in the South, will meet in
Atlanta at the Mayfair Club on
Sunday, Sept. 28, at 10 a. m.
Announcement concerning the
meeting was made by Abe Berko-
witz. of Birmingham, new chair
man of the Youth Commission,
who presides over his first meet
ing since his election in June. Mr.
Berkowitz is Southeastern Zionist
president.

WHERKFORE, petitioner prays that
the charter of said corporation be re
newed for thirty five years from July
26, 1948, and that the corporation be re
incorporated as hereinabove set out upon
a due compliance with the J,aw as in
such cases made and provided.

Mrs. Perry Sewell, of Memphis,

Problems of Today,’’ which em
braced the United Nations Spe
cial Committee on Palestine. Mrs.
Sewell was a delegate to the World
Zionist Conference held earlier
this year at Switzerland.
