ation of America chapter at 8 p.
m. Thursday, Oct. 16.

trict president, will speak.
The IZFA group will be the
second in the Atlanta area. Stu
dents at Georgia Tech established
a chapter last year.
Taking the lead In forming the
new group are Sam Auerbach,

last fifteen years.

Schwartzman conducted the fu
neral Oct. 8 at the chapel of
Greenberg & Flinn. Burial was in
Greenwood Cemetery.
Surviving Mr. Smith are his
wife: a daughter. Miss Osna
Smith; six sisters, Mrs. Sol Isen-
berg of Gordon, Ga.; Mrs. Sophia
Cohen and Mrs. Abe Levy of At
lanta; Miss Doris Lane of New
York. Mrs. Max Schwartz, of Mo
bile and Mrs. Hyman Pollock of
Spartanburg; three brothers, Jul
ius and Willie Smith of Greensboro
and Abe Smith of Spartanburg.
JOSEPH H. BEEBER
Joseph II. Beeber, 56, jeweler
and World War I veteran, died
suddenly October 6.
He was the owner of the Walton
Jeweler Co., a member of Ahavath
Achim Synagogue and the Ameri
can Legion.

a daughter, Mrs. George Segel of
New Orleans and a brother, Mor
ris Siegel of Atlanta. Funeral ser
vices were conducted by Rabbi
Harry Epstein and Cantor Joseph
Schw’artzir.an Oct. 8 at the chapel
of Greenberg & Flinn, with inter
ment in Greenwood Cemetery.
HARRY RAINES
Harry Raines, 57. retired mer
chant. died in Atlanta Oct. 1.
He is survived by his wife; two
sisters, Mrs. Jennie Sokoloff and
Mrs. Fannie Constangy, and a
brother, Louis Raines.
Mr. Raines operated a depart
ment store in Griffin for many
years and was a member of sev
eral Jewish organizations.
Rabbi Harry Epstein conducted
the funeral Oct. 2 at the chapel
of Greenberg <fe Flinn. Burial was
in Grenwood Cemetery.
MRS. MONROE MAYER
COLUMBIA. S. C.—Mrs. Mon
roe Mayer died Oct. 7 at her home
here. She was the former Miss
Flora Steinheimer and had lived in
Atlanta at one time.
Funeral services were conducted
Oct. 9 in Columbia.

The marriage of Miss Joan
Frand Stavis, daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. J. L. Rosenstein of Chicago,
to Philip Lazear Epstein, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Max Epstein of At
lanta. was solemnized Sunday,
Sept. 28, at 5 p. m. at the Belden-
Stratford Hotel in Chicago.
Dr. Louis Binstock officiated.

served as matron of honor and
Marion Whitehead. Jr., of Atlanta
was best man. Following the cere
mony, the bride’s parents enter
tained the wedding party at a
dinner at the hotel, after which
Mr. and Mrs. Epstein left for a
wedding trip to Miami and Nas
sau.
Mr. Epsein and his bride will
reside in Atlanta, where the bride
groom is associated with his father
in business.
