launched a petition campaign
against - ‘the amputation.’’
Petitions calling upon President
Truman to immediately repudiate
Secretary Marshall’s endorse
ment of the proposal, were circu
lated throughout the city by the
chapter.
Also included in the petition
were requests for immediate per
manent recognition of the Jewish
State by the American Govern
ment as well as an American loan
to Israel “in order to aid the
world’s youngest democracy in
the development of the nation.”
Irving Citron, president of the
Atlanta Chapter of Masada point
ed out that “Israel only asks a
fraction of the financial aid now
being afforded the former enemy
countries and satellites which
fought our country in World War
II.”
According to Mr. Citron, the
Negev Desert which would be
taken from Israel if the present
plan were adopted by the United
Nations with the support of
.America can provide homes for
countless Jewish immigrants from
Europe once the area has been
cultivated as is planned by Israel
at present. For the Arabs, on the
other hand, the Negev would re
main only another desert waste
land.
