man Popkin of Atlanta were
married recently in a candle
light cerfemony at the Rockledge
Club in West Hartford, Conn.
The double-ring ceremony was
performed by Rabbi Morris Sil
verman of Emanuel Synagogue in
West Hartford, the bride’s former
home.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Max Keyser of West
Hartford. The groom is the son
of Mrs. Sam Dietz, of Covington.
Mrs. Harry Popkin of New Or
leans was her sister-in-law’s ma
tron of honor. Mrs. Jack Wein
stein and Mrs. Arthur Levy of
Hertford, Conn., sisters of the
bride, were other attendants.
Susan Weinstein was flower
girl and Miriam Levy of Hart
ford, another niece of the bride,
was junior bridesmaid.
Harry Popkin of New Orleans
was his brother’s best man. Jack
Weinstein and Arthur Levy were
ushers.
After a honeymoon in New
York City and Bermuda, the
couple will reside in Atlanta
where Mr.Popkin is Youth direc
tor for the Southern Zionist
Youth Commission.

Miss Levy is a senior at Mount
Holyoke College, South Hadley,
Mass., where she is majoring in
French aind music.
Mr. Collat, a graduate of the
University of Georgia, is now
studying for u Ph. D. in chemis
try at Northwestern University.
During the recent war he served
in the army as an officer and
was in the Phillipines.

next summer after the gradua
tion of Miss Levy from college.

Mr. Weisberg was with the
Arrnv Air Forces for two and
one-half years. He is a graduate
of St. Johns University and is a
member of the Alpha Nu Sigma
lraternity. Mr. Weisberg is a
practicing attorney in New York
City.
The wedding will take place in
February.

Jacksonville, Fla.
The bride, who is the niece of
Mr. and Mrs. Alpert of Savinna 1 ,
made her home with them for the
past few years while at school.

The Atlanta Chapter of Senior
Hadassah salutes the new State
of Israel with a benefit Brunch
at the Mayfair Club Wednesday,
Nov. 3, at 11:30 a. m AH pro-
-ceeds go to Hadassah’s Youth
Work.
“In this, the first year of Is
rael’s independence,” says Mrs.
Joe Benamv. President, Atlanta
Hadassah, pledges even greater
aid to the youth of both Israel
and America.”
While Hadassah’s Youth move
ment has brought into Israel over
8.000 children during the past six
months, it has pledged itself to
end the exile of some 60,00*1
youngsters who wait impatiently
to enter the land she added.
With the influx of more chil
dren into Israel, Hadassah’s rec
reation, feeding and vocational
guidance programs have been
expanded to meet the realities of
a country whose population both
native and imigrant is fast on the
increase.
"Never before in our history,”
says Mrs. Frank Garson, Youth
Aliyah chairman, “has Hadassah
afforded such vast opportunities
for service. Even as the bombs
tell, Hadassah workers carried
on.
“Children of fighting parents ot
Israel go to school; visit the play
ground; carry on with their voca
tional studies; visit t lie school
doctor, and try t< mam a normal
workaday atmosphere despite ex
isting hazards."
