for a period of thirty-five <351 years
with full right of renewal as provided
by Inw, which its principal office nt

as its members may from time to
time determine.

Said corporation Is not organized and
shall not be operated for pecuniary
gain or profit and it shall have no
capital stock.

No part of the property of sold cor
poration and no part of its net earn
ings shall ever nt any time Inure to
the benefit of any private stockholder
or Individual, nor shall said corpora
tion have the power to and shall never
carry on propaganda or otherwise at
tempt to Influence legislation.
4.
The object of this corporation is the
promotion of education and education
al activities among college students.
To that end the corporation shall
have the power and authority to re
ceive and hoid In trust or otherwise
funds and properties, for the granting
of scholarships and educational loans,
to own and/or maintain and/or lease
fraternity chapter houses and/or other
buildings for assembly, housing, care
and/or maintenance of students, and
for study, discussion, and betterment
of students.
Said corporation shall have discre
tionary power to Invest In all types
of property, both real and personal,
to borrow money, to encumber all of
It* property, and to give mortgages
and dceds-to-secure-debt.
Said corporation shall have the
power to Issue such certificates of In
debtedness as it deems necessary,
either to Joint or to Individual credi
tors, either to its own members or to
others.

Said corporation shall be authorized
to accept contributions In any. form
and In any manner made upon such
conditions as may be imposed by the
contributor, provided the conditions
fall within the object of the corpora
tion.

Bald corporation shall have all of
the powers provided for under the
Corporation Act of 1838 (Georgia laws.
1837-38 extra session, page 214 et soql.
Additional members of the corpora
tion may be admitted after organiza
tion, upon the terms, conditions and
provisions of the by-laws hereafter
adopted. The by-laws of the corpora
tion as adopted from time to time may
also divide the members Into various
classes and define their voting and
other rights and privileges, and shall
make provision for the government of
the coiDoratlon and the management
of Its affairs.
8.
All powers granted herein or by the
laws of Georgia may be exercised
without permission of, or report or
return to any court.
WHEREFORE, petitioners pray that
they may be incorporated under the
name and style aforesaid, with all the
rights, privileges and immunities,
hereinabove set out, and such other
rights, powers, privileges, and immun
ities as are or may hereafter be con
ferred upon corporation of like char
acter under the laws of Georgia.

and for the chartering of a corporation
under the name of Mu Foundation of
Phi Epsilon Pi. Inc., and there being
presented along with same a certifi
cate from the Secreary of State de
claring that the name of the proposed
corporation is not the name of any
other now existing corporation regis
tered in the records of the Secretary
of State.
It is ordered and adjusted that the
application is legitimately within the
purview and intent of the laws of this
state, and that, therefore, said appli
cation is granted and said corporation
is hereby chartered according to the
provisions of the application.

The campaign was formally
launched recently before 400 per-
| sons assembled to hear Henry
Morgenthau Jr., general national
chairman of the United Jewish
j Appeal, and Lt.-Col. Mati Dagan,
j chief of the Israeli Mission to the
J United Jewish Appeal.
After the audience had an
nounced new pledges, a tally re
vealed that $329,000 had been do
nated. The same group last year
gave $275,000.
In addition to the $320,000, the
Women’s Division has revealed
$10,000 gifts from a group which
last year gave $5,963.
Johl Adler, campaign chairman,
announced that this spontaneous
giving has sparked the total cam
paign and added, “We feel that
Memphis Jewry is again respond
ing generously to the critical needs
of our people.’’

Southeastern Synagogue Conference
Meets This Weekend in Chattanooga

May 7-9 to the 1949 convention
of the Southeastern Synagogue
according to I. Rosenblatt, of
Nashville, conference president.
Rabbi Irwin Gordon, chairman
of the joint commission for coor
dinated community service spon
sored by the Rabbinical Council
of America, the Union of Ortho
dox Jewish Congregations of
America and the Yeshh'a Univer
sity, is comtng to the south as the
guest of the conference. He will
aid in planning the 1949 conven
tion.
Among the national leadership
lo attend the Chattanooga sessions
will be Rabbi Herschel Schachter
and Dr. Sydney Hoeing, both
leaders of American Orthodoxy.
Delegates will come from Ala
bama, Georgia, Tennessee, South
Carolina, North Carolina, Florida
and Mississippi.

Young Zionists from Nashville,

will gather at Montgomery Bell
State Park near Nashville, May
13-15 for their third annual
Young Zionists State Conclave.
Highlight <4 the weekend will
be a midnight bonfire salute to
the new state of Israel, upon its
first anniversary. The program.
The program will be conducted
by the Vanderbilt I. Z. F. A., un
der supervision of Sally Travis,
Marilyn Goodman, Elynor Fogel
and Jerard Gross.
The conclave is planned to bring
together young Zionists of the
northern section of the Southern
Zionist Youth Commission for fel
lowship and education, according
to Geraldine Freed, general chair
man.

Youth Commission are co-spon
sors. Participating, besides Her

MRS. KENNETH KREBS
Mrs. Kenneth Krebs of Atlanta,
died April 13.
Surviving are her husband; her
mother, Mrs. Rose Knowles of
Atlanta; a brother, Manuel

nieces and nephews.
