Twenty-one boys and girls, com
pleting the high school department
course of studies, will be graduat
ed from the Ahavath Achim Re
ligious School at Sabbath Service
Friday, May 13, at 8:30 p. m. at
the Synagogue.
The high school department is
a three-year course of religious
study following Confirmation.
Each graduate will receive a Di
ploma representing 13 years of
study in the Ahavath Achim Re
ligious School.
The graduation service will be
conducted by the graduates, who
will also discuss in the sermon-
ettes, “The Ideals and Challenges
of Jewish Life Today.”
Rabbi Epstein will deliver the
graduation sermon; Mrs. Oscar
Levin. Sisterhood president, will
present the graduates; Charles W.
Eergman, A .A. Educational Sys
tem chairman, will distribute the
diplomas; Joe G. Zaglin, graduat
ing class instructor, will award
the class achievement prizes; and
Cantor Joseph Schwartzman and
the Synagogue Choir will render
the music.
A reception honoring the grad
uates will follow the service.

Charter Given for
Communal Bureau
NEW YORK.. (JTA)—The N. Y.
State Board of Regents has grant
ed a five-year charter to the
Training Bureau for Jewish Com
munal Service, it was announced
by George Rabinoff, director. The
charter gives the bureau the right
to “conduct a program of training
for administrative service in Jew
ish community organizations and
develop other training programs
required for personnel in Jewish
communal work.”
The Bureau will begin its third
class in advanced studies in Jew
ish community organization in
June.
Leaders’ Institute
Third Session
Tuesday, May 10
The third session of the Lead
ers’ Institute will feature Jack
Chilnick, new director of the
Jewish Educational Alliance, who
will discuss “What Makes Sammy
and Sadie Click”? on Tuesday,
May 10, at 8:15 p. m. at the Alli
ance.
Mr. Chilnick, formerly director
of activities at the Jewish Com
munity Center of Savannah, will
analyze the psychological factors
motivating youth as individuals,
in groups and in the community.
The discussion will be followed
by a work-shop on American and
Jewish folk dancing.

still open and can be made by
telephoning the Jewish Educa
tional Alliance, MA. 2171.
The Institute is being jointly
sponsored by the Jewish Educa
tional Alliance, Atlanta Bureau
of Jewish Education, B’nai B’rith
Youth Organizations and Zionist
Youth Commission.
The annual Lag BaOmer Mac-
cAriad, the students’ outing for
the afternoon Jewish schools of
Atlanta, will be held Tuesday,
May 17. The Polo field of Pied
mont Park will be the scene of
this annual athletic carnival from
4 to 6 p. m.
The following events are sched
uled: For boys and girls up thru
9, a spoon (marble) race, three-
legged race and 40 yard dash and
basketball throw. For boys 13 and
over; a wheelbarrow race, 70 yard
dash and basketball throw. For
girls 10-12; rope jumping, three-
legged race and 40 yard dash. For
girls 13 and over; rope jumping,
60 yard dash and basketball toss.
Special novelties will be open for
boys and girls of all ages, includ
ing a cracker eating contest and
the traditional bow and arrow
contest. There will be competition
among the schools involved in the
annual School Song contest, fea
turing singing by groups of stu-
| dents from the Ahavath Achim

The afternoon will be concluded
with inter-school softball games
and the serving of refreshments.
A banner will be awarded to
