ADOLPH BERNATH
Adolph Berneth, 77, of Atlanta
died May 31.
Funeral services were conduct- |
ed June 1 in the chapel of Green
berg & Flinn. Rabbi Harry H. Ep
stein and Cantor Joseph Schwartz-
man officiated. Burial was in
Greenwood Cemetery.
A resident of Atlanta for the
last 4(y years, Mr. Bernath was the
president of the Atlanta Cooper
age Company.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. A.' G. Reisman and Miss
Irene Bernath, both of Atlanta;
three sons, Alex S., Joe and Albert
ALFRED F. REVSON
Alfred Frank Revson, 57, of At
lanta died May 23. Rabbi David
Marx conducted the funeral May
24 at the chapel of Greenberg &
Flinn. Interment was in West
View Cemetery.
Mr. Revson, a life-long Atlan-
tian, was owner of the Revson
Antique Shop, a member o{ the
Temple, Georgia Lodge, F. & A.
M., the Standard Club and B’nai
B’rith.
Surviving are his wife and two
sons, Alfred Revson Jr. and
Raphael Revson.
MRS. ALEX HIRSCH
Mrs. Alex Hirsch, 68, of Atlanta
died Monday, May 23.
Funeral services were conduct
ed by Rabbi Harry H. Epstein on
Tuesday, May 24, at the chapel of
Greenberg & Flinn. Interment was
in Crest Lawn Cemetery,
Surviving Mrs. Hirsch is her
husband; a daughter Mrs. Sam A.
Goldberg, and a son Seymour
Hirsch. She also leaves a brother,
Sam Karesh of Camden, S. C.; two
sisters, Mrs. Abe Heilman, Colum
bia, S., C., and Mrs. Abe Levy, of
Galveston, Texas; and two grand
children.
ABRAHAM SIMON
Funeral services for Abraham
Simon, 52, formerly of Atlanta,
was held May 26 at the chapel of
Greenberg & Flinn.
Rabbi Tobias Geffen, Rabbi Joel
Geffen, Rabbi Samuel Geffen, the
Rev. Hirsch Geffen and Rabbi
Hyman R. Friedman officiated.
Burial was in Greenwood ceme
tery.
Mr. Simon died May 24 in
Spartanburg. He was a member of
the Temple B’nai Israel, B’nai
B’rith, the Zionist organization of
America, Knights of Pythias and
the Scottish Rite. He also was a
Shriner and an Elk.
Surviving are his wife, the for
mer Miss Lottie Geffen, of At
lanta; a daughter, Phyllis; a son,
Harold; two sisters, Mrs. Taube
Torf, of Capetown, Africa; and
Dr. Rhoda Simon, of Russia; two

MRS. FANNIE VICTOR
Mrs. Fannie Schleisinger Victor,
82, wife of the late Ralph Victor,
died recently in Augusta.
The funeral was held April 27.
Mrs. Victor was a former presi
dent of the Atlanta section of the
Council of Jewish Women and for
many years was a member of the
Board of Directors of the Hebrew
Orphanage home in Atlanta.
Survivors are: a son, Victor Vic
tor, Hampstead, N. Y.; daughter,
Mrs. I. Clarence Levy; four grand
sons, Ralph Victor Levy, I. Clar
ence Levy, Jr., and Harry S. Levy,
Augusta, Jean William Levy,
Memphis, Tenn.; several nieces
and nephews.
MRS. ALBERT BERGER
Mrs. Albert Berger, 54, died in
Atlanta May 18. She was a native
of Pennsylvania, being the former
Miss Bella Seeherman of Wilkes-
Barre, Pa. Rabbi Harry H. Epstein
and Cantor Joseph Schwartzman
conducted the funeral. Burial was
in Greenwood Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband; a
daughter, Mrs. D. Gerson, of At
lanta; three sons, Leonard Berger,
of Marietta, Allan Berger, of Phil
adelphia, and Willard Berger, of
Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Louis
Lang, of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Ben
Levin, of Easton, Pa.; a brother,
Sidney Seeherman, of Wilkes,
Barre, and three grandchildren.
MRS. LENA MARKOWITZ
Mrs. Lena Cooper Markowitz,
wife of the late Nathan Marko
witz, died in Savannah May 13.
The funeral was conducted May
15 by Rabbi A. I. Rosenberg,
Rabbi Isidor Barnette and Cantors
Hirsch Geffen and Joseph Saltz-
man. Burial was in Bonaventure
Cemetery.
DR. J. S. KAHN
Dr. John S. Kahn, 64, veteran
Atlanta optometrist, died Friday
May 27.
Funeral services were held May
29 at the chapel of Greenberg &
Flinn. Rabbi Harry H. Epstein
and Cantor Joseph Schwartzman
! officiated. Burial was in Green
wood cemetery.
A native of Birmingham, Dr.
Kahn had lived in Atlanta for
about 45 years.
Surviving are his wife; his
mother. Mrs. Ida Kahn of Atlanta;
a daughter, Mrs. Mrs. Harold
Goldstein, of Atlanta; five broth
ers, Dr. George S. Kahn, H. I. and
David E. Kahn,.all of Atlanta; M.
R. Kahn and N. A. Kahn, both of I
Birmingham, and three sisters,
Mrs. Rose Kwowles, of Atlanta,
and Mrs. Sam Rosenberg, of Phil
adelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Harry
Massell, of Denver, Col.
JWB Calls Confab
On Cultural Series
In Atlanta June 26
A south-wide conference of
community leaders will be held
in Atlanta Sunday, June 26, to
discuss next season’s cultural
series.
The conference has been called
by Dave White of Houston, chair
man of the Southern Section Cul
tural Series Committee, in cooper
ation with the Jewish Center Lec
ture Bureau of the National JWB.
Samuel D. Freedman, director
of the Jewish Center Lecture Bu
reau, is expected to be present for
the sessions which will open at 10
a. m. at the Ansley Hotel.

Will Operate Club
On Tybee Island
The former officers club in the
Fort Screven area of Tybee Island
will begin operation as the beach
club of Martin Klrshbaum Post
No. 320 Jewish War Veterans, on
June 4, it was announced by re
cently by Chairman Robert Funk
of the post entertainment commit
tee.
A grand opening dance has been
set for June 11. An eight-piece
orchestra has been obtained for
the event, and tickets will be sold
to the general public.
Chairman Funk revealed that
the club will also be used by the
Jewish Educational Alliance as a
day camp for children. It will af
ford the youngsters a place to
change clothes for swimming, and
also will provide other recrea
tional facilities.
Game parties will be held at the
club each Wednesday night and
dances each Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Mayer have
been engaged as superintendents
of the property.
The J. W. V. post has leased the
building from Alex Meddin of the
Fort Screven Development Com
pany for the season. The building
is now being repaired and fur
nished by the post. Chairs, tables,
kitchen equipment ,and a refresh
ment bar featuring sandwiches,
soft drinks, and beer are being
installed.

Congregation.
Mr. Kornblutt served for four
years at the helm of the congrega
tion in whose activities his entire
family has been active. During his
tenure of office, the membership
increased, a high standard of fi
nancial condition was maintained,
services were held at each High
Holyday and Festival and a rabbi
was secured frequently, the pres
ent association being with Rabbi
Samuel Epstein of Fayettesville,
N. C.
Another highlight was the for
mation this season of a Sabbath
School and a contribution and
participation in all worthy Jewish
and non-Jewish causes and drives.

and A. Sutker of McColl, first and
second vice presidents; Miss Irene
Polan of Mullins, secretary; Mrs.
Max Richman of Dillon, treasurer.

Julius Blumberg of Dillon; Moses
Kornblutt and Bertram Blum of
Latta; H. Polan of Mullins; M.
Sutker of McColl. The nominating
committee were: Mrs. Julius
Blumberg: Bertram Blum and J.
D. Palarz. An auditor’s report was
given by Moses Kornblutt.

State Convention
Paul Ginsberg, well known At
lanta communal and veterans
leader, has announced that the
Georgia State Convention of the
Disabled American Veterans will
be held in Atlanta from June 24-
26.
Mr. Gingsberg is the state com
mander of the organization. He
has invited General Jonathan M.
Wainright, the national com
mander, to address the Georgia
Assembly.
Including in the convention
events are a parade of military
groups, to be welcomed by Mayor
Hartsfield. Governor Talmadge
will be the principal speaker at
the concluding banquet which will
be televised over Station WAGA-
TV.

and Rabbi Paul Liner announced
that a special memorial service
has been scheduled in commemor
ation of our war dead.
Rabbi Liner represented the
Columbia Zionist District at the
national Z. O. A. convention in
New York. He has been chairman
for the Columbia District and an
ardent supporter of Zionist activi
ties. He conducted a workshop at
the IZFA meeting in Knoxville,
this past February.
