Strnssburg, musical director; Av-
ram Kampf, stage director, and
Norinne Beckwith, dance director.
All the campers and staff par
ticipate in this one festival which
lies together the many and varied
activities of the four-weeks’ camp
period. The singing and dancing
learned day by day will be incor
porated in this program The arts
and crafts will be used for the
stage designs, the props and the
costumes. The subject matter will
reflect the lectures on Jewish his
tory and folklore. “These My Peo
ple” is not a play given to the
campers to perform, but has been
actually created by the campers
and the staff. Everyone, not just
the (alented. takes part in this
pageant-
, “These My People’’ is divided
into three scenes, the first n seen*
in a peaceful village of ancient Is
rael- The climax of this scene is
mime. The second scene is the pe j
riod of dispersion. It is a lyrical
scene beginning with the mourning
of Jeremiah and progressing to the j
modern mourning of the coneentra j
tion camp. Toward the end of the -
second scene the despair brightens,
when building begins in Eretz Yis-1
roel. The third scene is modern
Israel, a work scene, a happy scene j
of song and dance-
The music was composed espe |
daily for this event by Robert:
Strassburg, conductor and com I
poser, who is on the faculty of j
Brooklyn and Hunter College. The |
choreography was done by Norrine j
Beckwith, a professional dancer,
who studied under Martha Gra i
mm. The general director, Ray
aond Smolover, is a professional
nusician, with a beautiful tenor
oice- He studied at Juilliard and
/on first prize in the Carnegie
lair Contest of 1948 He is now
he music director of the White
’lains, N. Y., Jewish Community
’enter. He has appeared on both

Mark 2,000 Years
In Cochin, India
CALCUTTA, (JTA)—A festive
ceremony marking the celebration
of 2,000 years of history in the
Jewish community in Cochin, In
dia, took place in a local synago
gue, attended by the Maharajah
of Cochin.
The synagogue where the cere
mony took place was built 400
years ago on land next to the
Royal Palace granted for that pur
pose by the Maharajah’s ancestors.
It is famous throughout India and
is visited by persons of all races
and creeds. Jews have been living
in the Maharajah’s territory since
the beginning of the Christian

SAVANNAH. —The Lux Film
Company of Italy has purchased
“Horn df Plenty,” by Aubrey Wis
berg, formerly of Savannah, for
an early movie production in Eng
lish and Italian versions. “Horn
of Plenty” tells a story of the re
generation of an impoverished
Italian fishing village and its in
habitants through the activities of
a World War II veteran who re
calls the assistance rendered him
by the villagers in escaping the
Nazis. The negotiations for the
production took place in Holly
wood-

Condemns Two Jews
ATHENS, (JTA)—Two Jews,
Aarin Ganis and Chryssoula Fel-
ous, were this week sentenced to
death by a military court at
Voulos on charges of having been
in contact with the Greek rebels.
The fate of two other Jews
among a total of 36 defendants,
all charged wRh the same actions,
is still unknown. Felous’ execution
was ordered carried out imme
diately, while Ganis’ sentenced
has been postponed pending an
appeal to a higher body.
