Letters to the
Editor: S. I.
In connection with your edi
torial on the Cardinal Spellman
—Mrs. Roosevelt controversy,
may I ask you to publish my
inclosed article, containing
another (although unpopular)
approach to the problem.
If you remember that a
“Rabbi" Eichenstein’s whole
sale embezzlement made head
lines in recent days, if you re-
call that a year ago a New |
York "Rabbi-Druggist,” who j
killed his wife, was in the
limelight, if you consider the

harm done to Jewry’s reputa
tion by such elements, then
your conclusion that something
simply must be done about this
problem is inevitable. On the
basis of this conclusion I hope
you will give space to my re
marks.
Rabbi J. S. Fisher,
(Beaufort, S. C.)
Rabbi Fisher's material is
presented in other columns in
this issue. The editorial in ref
erence was reprinted from the
Jewish Press of Omaha and
approached the standpoint
first of the “right of any indi
vidual to differ with another
individual or group without
being smeared as anti-Catholic,
anti-Semitic, or anti-minority
of any kind" and on the prin
ciple of the Separation of ;
Church and State.—ED.

Why print such a common
article and I mean common as
appeared on your last week’s
paper, page nine!
We were amazed.
Mr. and Mrs. A .L. Myers.

P. S. Mr. Loewinsohn wrote
it but you didn’t have to print
it.

material—on the lighter side—
evoked favorable comment, too.
On the other hand, it is our
desire never to offend or to be

some readers were offended

As a special concession, on this
next to the final night at camp,
the rigorous curfew hour had been
relaxed and the tireless pageant
performers were permitted to get
ice cream or candy from the can

In this late-hour moment of re-
i freshment, one of the young men
j told the writer simply, “B.C.I. has
i made me a better Jew.”
Monday morning began the
| packing up and the sad goodbyes

And even as the B.C.I.-ers
pressed hands for the last time
and became alumni of the "Sec-

South,” the facilities were filling
with another group of young peo
ple.

IN AMERICA
"it
Mayor HartsfielcTs worst enemies have
to admit that he has made a good mayor. He
has mamaged our city government soundly
and competently on a completely business-like
basis without raising taxes!
No graft—no scandal—no petty politics
have marred the Hartsfield Administration.
Throughout the nation Atlanta is known as
"the best managed city in America."
Because of his fight for better housing,
for rent control, for public parks, for better
health facilities, for sound financing of our city's
government, we are proud to be among the
Hartsfield supporters.
We are especially proud of the fact that
Mayor Hartsfield is the Mayor of ALL the peo
ple, not just a favored few.
We have a good city government; we
are in the midst of great improvement projects
which must be completed.
It's not sound business to fire a man with
a good record just because somebody else
wants the job!
We kaow Mayor Hartsfield—we kiow
his record.
Let's re-elect Atlanta's Best Mayor.
