Londoner Talks Friday Before
A. J. C. - Sponsored Luncheon
William Frankel, London repre
sentative of the American Jewish
Committee, will speak in Atlanta
Sept. 16.
He will appear at a luncheon at
12:30 p. m. Friday at the Henry
Grady Hotel, according to Morris
B. Abram, executive secretary of
the Atlanta Chapter of the A.J.C.
His subject will be “An English
Jew Looks at Israel.” Mr. Frankel
is a member of the Foreign Af
fairs Committee of the Board of
Deputies of British Jews.
The visitor graduated from
London University and is a bar
rister-at-law of the Middle Tem
ple and of the Southeastern Cir
cuit. He has spent considerable
time traveling and lecturing in
Europe and is acquainted with
most of the Jewish communities
on the Continent—both before and
after the recent war.

Simon Noveck its associate Rabbi.
Rabbi Noveck, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Noveck of Atlanta, was
graduated from Boys High School
in 1932 with the third highest
average in his class. While at Boys
High School he was 1 the leader of
the debating team for three years,
and one of the editors of the stu
dent publication. The Rabbi re
ceived his Jewish education at the
Atlanta Communal Hebrew
School. He was prepared in his
Talmudic studies by Rabbi Tobias
Geffen of Atlanta and by the Tate
Israel Moses Matzel, his grand
father.
Upon graduation, Rabbi Noveck
left for New York to study at
Yeshiva University and the Teach-

Atlanta Women’s Groups Adopt
Unified Cultural Program
A coordinated program of cul
tural activities has been adopted
by all Jewish women's organiza
tions in the Atlanta community.
The program, sponsored by the
women’s organizations in coopera
tion with the Atlanta Bureau of
Jewish Education, will include the
following:
Nov. 8—Peace program for
Armistice Day, tentatively under
the leadership of the Ladies Aux
ilary of the Jewish War Veterans.
Nov. 15-Dec. 20-Jan. 24-Feb. 28
Apr. 4, Legislative study groups
led by Mrs. Philip Shulhafer and
the Council of Jewish Women.
Nov. 22-Jan. 3, 17-Feb. 7—Mch.
14-April 11, a course on public
speaking led by Mrs. H. Taylor,
assisted by Pioneer Women No. 2.
Nov. 29-Jan. 10-Feb. 14-April
18, Book Reviews, the first on
“Trial and Error” by Chaim Weiz-
mann to be reviewed by Rabbi
Jacob M. Rothschild; promotion
of reviews by Tel Chai Group of
Hadassah.
Dec. 6 and 13, a Hanukkah In
stitute on cooking, customs and
songs of the .festival, prepared by
the Shearith Israel Sisterhood.
Jan. 31, Palestine Day in cele
bration of Tu Bishvat, to be led
by Hadassah.
Feb. 1, Brotherhood Day cele
bration to be led by the B’nai
B’rith Women.
March 7, Music Festival cele
bration to involve all Jewish wo
men’s organizations, led by the
Arbeiter Ring Women.
March 21 and 28, Passover In
stitute of cooking, customs and
songs of the festival to be pre
pared by the Sisterhood of the
Ahavath Achim Congregation.
April 25, the last day of these
women’s institutes, discussion on
“Our Children: Problems of
Growth”, to be led by the Tem
ple Sisterhood.
Announcement of the individual
programs will be brought to the
attention of all Jewish women’s
organizations from time to time.
All sessions will be held on
Tuesday mornings from 11 a. m.
to 12:30 p. m. at the renovated
quarters of the new Jewish Com
munity Center at 1745 Peachtree
Road, N. W.

RABBI NOVECK

a degree in Jewish pedagogy, he
entered the Jewish Theological
Seminary, from which he was
graduated in 1941.
Rabbi Noveck has been a lec
turer in the department of Politi
cal Science of the 1 College of the
City of New York and an instruc
tor in Modern Jewish History at
the Seminary School of Jewish
Studies since 1945. He served as
acting rabbi of Temple Beth El,
Cedarhurst, from 1944 to 1946, and
has been Rabbi of Congregation
B’nai Israel at Freeport, Long Is
land since then. He is soon to re
ceive a Ph. D. degree from Colum
bia University for a dissertation
on the History of American De
mocracy.
