RALPH B. MORRIS, and LOUIS GEF-
FEN. respectfully thows to the Court

I. That they desire for themselves,
and BRsocIstes. successors, and assigns,
to be Incorporated under the name and
style of MACKEY S, INC., for a period
of thirty-five (391 years with the right
of renewal thereof as provided by law

Hundred (100) shores, of the par value
of One Hundred and 00/100 ($100.001

men’s wearing apparel, goods, wares
and merchandise and personal prop
erty of every kind and description;
and to carry on any other lawful trade

Rabbi Samuel Teitelbaum, di
rector of the B’nai B'rith Hillel
Foundation at Northwestern Uni
versity, has just received an ap
pointment to the faculty of Gar
rett Biblical Institute in Chicago
to serve as instructor in sociology
at that Institute.
Garrett Institute is a well-
known Methodist Theological
school. Dr. Rockwell C. Smith,
President of the Institute, made
the appointment, Rabbi Teitel
baum is the first Jew to be ap
pointed to the teaching staff of
that Institute. Rabbi Teitelbaum
received his training at Harvard
University and his rabbinical de
gree at the Jewish Institute of Re
ligion in New York City. He has
been serving with the Hillel
Foundation since the close of the
2nd World War, after an extended
chaplaincy overseas.
In making this appointment, the
members of the sociology faculty
stated that it would be helpful to
future Methodist ministers and
those working in the Methodist
religious field if they had the
viewpoint of a follower of the Old
Testament ethics in their academic
training.
Is Elected Rabbi
of Savannah Shule
The Rev. Hirsch Geffen has
been elected rabbi of Congrega
tion Beth Z’Vi, Savannah’s new
est Jewish congregation.
He has begun his duties as
rabbi and is officiating in all re
ligious capacities, it was an
nounced.
He is the brother of Rabbi To
bias Geffen in Atlanta.
Rabbi Geffen will conduct He
brew classes and give private les
sons in Hebrew mechanical read
ing, reading of Torah and Hofto-
rah, cantorial chanting. Hebrew
language translation and the study
of the Bible in the original He
brew.
While the newly-incorporated
congregation does not yet have a
synagogue, services will be con
ducted at the residence of Rabbi
Geffen.
For the past 24 years Rabbi
Geffen has served as a cantor in
the Savannah Jewish community
and has achieved prominence with
his interpretations of the tradi
tional holiday prayers and the
rendition of Hebrew melodies.
Rabbi Geffen, for the past 22
years, has been chaplain of the
H. G. H. Society and for 40 years
has been an active member of the
Zionist organization. He is a Ma
son, belonging to Zerubbabel
Lodge No. 15, F. and A. M.; is
librarian of the philosophic oc-
cult-Masonic library, is t thirty-
second-degree Scottish Rite mem
ber of Richard Nunn Consistory,
and is chairman of the program
committee and acting chaplain of
Research Lodge No. 1.
He is one of forty fellows of the
Philathethes Society, an interna
tional society of Masonic writers
and editors.
DOZ, FOJ, FOG, SOZ, DSI
JAC Score Initial Victories
The three basketball Leagues of
Atlanta Jewish Community Cen
ter continued play during the past
week ana a number of interesting
games were engaged in by the
various teams.
In the Girls’ League there was
a single game Wednesday, Nov. 2
when a strong DOZ team trounced
the smaller FOJ group 45-8..
Eleanor Carl was the top scorer
for DOZ, adding 15 points »o hei
team’s total.
In the first game Sunday, Nov.
C, FOJ came back and defeated
BBG “Jr” to the tune of 18-9,
Sylvia Arogetti won sharp shoot
ing honors for the winning team,
with a total of 11 points, of which
she made 5 out of 5 foul shots.
Iris Tannenbaum was top scorer
for the losers with 5 points.
In the second game of the after-
npon, FOZ continued their win
ning ways by defeating SDG 12-7,
This was a very close game thru-

In the Boys “A” League, the
first game was a very important
one that brought together AZA
134 and SOZ. SOZ broke away to
a fast start, only to have 134 come
back and tie the game up. In the
last quarter, SOZ put on a drive
which turned the game into a
rout and enabled them to win by
a score of 39-30. Bobby Tuck
scored 12 important points for
SOZ before being removed from
the game on fouls, and Allan Gill-
man also dropped in 11 points.
Donnie Diamond was top man for
134 with 11 points. As a result of
this victory, SOZ now holds un
disputed possession of first place
in this League. In the second
game of the “A” league, DSI en
countered u scrappy 518 team and
managed to barely eke out a vic
tory during the last 10 seconds of
play and won by the score of 34-
32. Victor Romano was high man
for the victors with 15 points, and
Richard Feldman contributed 11
points for 518.
In the Boys ”B” League, the
newly formed Temple team play
ed their first game against DSI
and showed considerable spirit,
although losing by the score of 54-
18. Victor Coplan had a big day
for himself, sinking 11 baskets and
scored a total of 23 points. Ray
Levy won top scoring honors for
the Temple group with 8 points.
In the second “B” League game,
a fast JAC quintet outran the 134
team and won an easy victory by
the score of 30-16. Randy Fein-
berg scored 16 points for the win
ners, and Alvin Herman was top
man for the losers with 8 points.

manian Government agreed this
week to allow 60 of the 240 Jews
awaiting transportation to Israel
at the port of Constanza to em
bark on the S. S. Eilath following
intervention on the part of the
Israel legation here.
The 60 Jews are of various na
tional backgrounds. The remain
ing 180 Rumanian Jews are still
waiting for permission to board
