Schedule of Shavuos, Confirmation
Services Announced for Atlanta
Atlanta congregations will observe Shavuos with special ser
vices and Confirmation of graduates from their religious schools.
Confirmation exercises at the Temple are set for 8 p. m. Sunday
May 21, according to Rabbi Jacob Rothschild.
The Ahavath Achim Synagogue Confirmation is scheduled for
10 a. m. Monday with services at 7 p. m. Sunday and Monday,
May 21 and 22. Yizkor services .are scheduled for 10:15 a. m. Tues
day. Rabbi Harry II. Epstein has announced.
At the Shearith Israel Synagogue, Maeriv services begin at 6:45
Sunday, May 21. Shacharis is cheduled at 8:20 a. in. Monday) con
ducted by Rabbi Tobias Geffen, and on Tuesday, with Rabbi Hy
man Friedman delivering the sermon at 10:45 a. m.. followed by
Yizkor. Youth services will be held at 0:30 a. m. Monday and
Tuesday, with Rabbi Friedman delivering both sermons.
The Shearith Israel Congregation will hold Confirmation at
8:00 p. in. Sunday. May 28, at the Synagogue.
Rabbi Joseph Cohen said Shavuos services will be conducted
at Or Ve Shalom Synagogue at 7:30 p. in. Sunday, 7:00 p. m. on
Monday and 8:30 a. m. on Monday and Tuesday.
Or Ve Shalom Graduation exercises are scheduled for June 4.

Goldberg to Lead
JWB Services for
Third Army Area
General Eugene Oberdorfer,
Third Army Area Chairman, an
nounces the assignment of Leon
Goldberg as Third Army Area Di
rector for the Armed Services Di
vision of the National Jewish Wel
fare Board.
Headquarters for the Area office
has been set up in Atlanta, and
will serve the Jewish personnel
of all military establishments and
VA Hospitals in the Third Army
Area. Mr. Goldberg will share of
fice space with the Field Secre
taries of the Southern Section of
the National Jewish Welfare Board
in the Forsyth Building.
Mr. Goldberg is a native of New
Orleans; a graduate of Tulane
University, and has been associat
ed with the JWB for the 7 years.
He has come to Atlanta from Bi
loxi, Miss., where he served as
Gulf Area Director. He previously
directed USO Clubs in Fayette
ville, N. C., and New Orleans, La.
Prior to his connections with JWB,
Mr. Goldberg was Manager of the
United States Employment Ser
vice at Bogolusa, La. \
Mr. Goldberg reported to At
lanta for duty early this month
and will be joined shortly by Mrs.
Goldberg and their three sons.
