Tax Receiver
Warns of Penalty
A record number of over 90,-
000 Fulton County Property
Owners have filed their 1952
State and County ad valorem
tax returns, to date.
However, Tax Receiver Jason
A. Tuggla estimates another 50,-
000 should file their returns and
exemption applications by May
1 deadline, in order to escape the
mandatory penalties imposed by
the County Tax Assessors on all
defaulters. These penalties are
10 per cent on gross taxes, as
failure to file application forfeits
any exemption under the Georgia
laws.
State and County tax returns
should include all real estate,
household goods, jewelry, auto
mobiles and all other tangible
properties of individuals, part
nerships, companies and corpor
ations, such as furniture and fix
tures, machinery and equipment
and merchandise inventory, as
all are subject to taxation un
der the Georgia ad valorem tax
law.

shattering turnout of more than
650 persons” attended by the
Myerson dinner, adding that the
attendance “far exceeded that of
any previous function of the
Jewish community of Indianap

2. Local welfare fund sources
claimed that “local residents
were convinced following the
meeting that the result vindicat

maintained in the face of the na

3. A rally held at the Tem
ple Beth El by welfare forces
the Friday night preceeding the
Myerson dinner heard wires
read from Edward M. M. War
burg and Dr. Joseph Schwartz,
UJA leaders, in support of the
local body’s stand. The rally was
addressed by Rabbi William
Greenfield, Julian Freeman,
Federation president and others.
Myerson told her audience
that Israel Bond dollars were
urgently needed to assure eco
nomic independence for the Jew
ish State and at the same time
urged a generous response to the
Indianapolis Jewish Federation
Campaign in order to aid in the
reception and care of new immi
grants to Israel.
Spokesmen for the federation
here charged that “almost all lo
cal leaders refused to attend” the
Myerson dinner and claimed that
“the meeting was apparently in
tended to undermine the local
effort in behalf of the UJT.A.” ‘
