The opening meeting of 1952-
53 will take place Monday, Oct.
3, at the Tenth St. Educational
Center. Rabbi Harry H. Epstein
will resume his cultural series at
1:30 p. m., which will precede
the regular meeting scheduled to
start at 2:30 p. m.
For the afternoon’s program,
Mrs. D. Makavitt will present
“Conventionalities of 1952” with
Mrs. S. O. Klotz as keynote
speaker.
A most cordial invitation is
extended to all members and
friends of Sisterhood to attend
this opening meeting; to renew
acquaintances and to rededicate
themselves 'to the many Sister
hood projects.

Membership Drive
Stanford Makover, chairman
of the Membership Enrollment
Drive, has announced that over
seventy per cent of the members
have reenrolled for 1952-53.
He announced that an addi
tional 170 new families have
joined the Community Center.
He has asked all persons who
have not yet responded to the
renewal. notice to do so imme
diately and “become affiliated
with the Center for its greatest
season to date—1952-53.”

The wedding of Miss Bernita
Rose Hirsh and Richard Moldow
Carl was solemnized September
22 at the Progressive Club. Rab
bi Harry Epstein conducted the
service.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. apd Mrs. Isaac Benjamin
Hirsh. The groom’s parents are
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carl, all of
Atlanta.
Miss Anita Epstein was maid
of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss
Faine Lichtenstein, Miss Patri
cia Wender, Miss Eleanor Carl,
Mrs. Elkin Ries and Mrs. Jerry
Shu re.
Eugene Carl was his son’s
best man. Groomsmen were
Richard Garber, Jack Hirsh,
Harris Jacobs, Jerry Rittcn-
baum, llvan Friedman and Jerry
Shur. Sydney Moldow, Harry
Muldaur and Spencer Carl were
ushers.
Following the ceremony, the
parents of the bride entertained
at a wedding dinner.
Grandparents of the couple
present were Mr. and Mrs. J.
Berger of Chattanooga, Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Sehoen, Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Carl and Mr. and Mrs. M. J.
Muldow, all of Atlanta.

Ween announce the engagement
of their daughter, Miss Harriet
Beverly Ween ito Boris Koonin,
son of Mr. and Mrs. David Koo
nin of Brooklyn, N. Y.
Miss Ween was graduated from
Henry Grady High School and
the Harrison-Draughon School
of Commerce. She is now em
ployed as secretary to an Atlanta
attorney.
Mr. Koonin is a graduate of
Brooklyn Technical High and the
Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute.

nual Membership Tea at 2 p. m.
Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Tem
ple Assembly Hall, with Mrs.
Esther Zackler, national board
member, as guest speaker.
Mrs. David Lashner, presi
dent of Golda Meyerson Chapter,
and Mrs. Lena Cofien, who heads
Chapter No. 1, have announced
the following ladies are aiding
for the tea:
Mrs. Louis Mazier, chairman,
Mrs, Joseph Benson, program;
Mrs. Joseph Dechovitz, refresh
ments; Mrs. Irving Alperin, dec-

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Grant of

a daughter Karen Janine on Sep
tember 27. Before her marriage,

town of Chattanooga.

gagement of their daughter Lil
lian to Burton M. Babbit, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice N. Babbit
of New York City.
The wedding will take place in
November.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris E. Pack
er of Brooklyn, N. Y., have an
nounced the engagement of their
daughter Julie Melisse to Lieut,
(jg) Irwin Isiah Mazo, USNR,
son of Mrs. Abraham Mazo and
the late Mr. Mazo of Savannah.
Miss Packer is a graduate of.
the Berkeley Institute and is
presently a senior at the Yom-
en’s College of the University of
North Carolina and will gradu
ate next June.
Lieut. Mazo is a graduate of
the United States Merchant Ma
rine Academy of Kings Point,
N. C., where he was commission
ed an Ensign in the U. S. Naval
Reserve. During World War II,
he served as an Officer with the
Merchant Marines, and he is now
on active duty with the U. S.
Sixth Fleet in the Mediteran-
ean. Lieut. Mazo graduated from
the University of Georgia and is
a member of Tau Epsilon Phi
Fraternity.
The wedding is planned for
late December.
