Plans for Atlanta Institute Sessions Opening
October 21-22; Need Speedy Enrollment

Plans were announced this week for the Jewish Women’s In
stitute and the Adult and Young Adult Institute, which offers
Atlantans a wide variety of op
portunity for study, information
and reflection.
The Jewish Women’s Organi
zations of Atlanta are sponsor
ing the Jewish Women’s Insti
tute to be held from 11 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the
Jewish Community Center.
First session for the ladies will
be held on October 21, Tuesday,
when the subject of “Church and
State” will be considered. Three
sessions will be devoted to this
topic. The second subject, “Edu
cation and Jewish Education in
Particular,” will be treated on
Dec. 2 and December 16.
Both men and women will be
welcomed at the Adult and Young
Adult Institute which has sched
uled twenty-one sessions, begin
ning with Wednesday, Oct. 22.
This Institute will be conducted
by the Atlanta Bureau of Jewish
Education with the cooperation
of the Atlanta Jewish Communi
ty Center.
The evening will be divided in
to two one-hour sessions, begin
ning at 8:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
During the first sessions, the sub
jects will be Highlights in Jew
ish History Books of the Apo
crypha and Major Problems and
Trends in Jewish Life.
The registrants may choose,
for the second session, one of a
group of potential classes, which
include Great Books of the Day,
Classes in Hebrew and Yiddish,
Yiddish Speaking Discussion
Group and Hebrew Speaking Dis
cussion Group.

persons interested to fill in the
coupons found elsewhere in this
issue as soon as possible to give
some advance indication of the
ize of classes. Persons may also
register at the time of the class

Ready for Annual
Brunch October 22
Mrs. Philip Schwartz, presi
dent, this week checked on prog
ress made for the annual Brunch
of Atlanta Senior Hadassah at
11:30 a. m. Wednesday, Oct. 22,
and announced “the stage is set
for a gala afternoon.”
The program will feature a
musical review of Hadassah’s 40
years, “Life with Hadassah.”

guest soloist Tuesday evening at
the opening of the Atlanta Sym
phony Orchestra season.
Single tickets are now on sale,

the orchestra seats have been re
arranged so that the rows are
elevated and visibility is im
proved.
..Conductor Henry Sopkin has
announced that, the soloist will
offer four operatic arias from
“Don Carlos” and “La Travia-
ta” by Verdi and from Bizet’s
Carmen.

The subject of Church and State will be discussed at the first three sessions of the
Jewish Women’s Institute. These sessions will be held on Tuesday mornings, Oct.
21, Nov. 4 and Nov. 18.

The problems of education, and of Jewish Education in particular, will be discussed
by the members of the Jewish Women’s Institute at the Tuesday morning session on
Dec. 2 and Dec. 16.
The Winter Series of the Jewish Women’s Institute which will begin on
Tuesday, January 2, will be announced at a later date.
