MORRIS MALLOY
Morris Malloy, 75, of Atlanta,
lor more than 50 years a tailor,
died October 15.
A native of Russia, Mr. Mal
loy came to the U. S. as a young
man and about twenty years ago
removed to Atlanta from Penn
sylvania. He was a member of
the Ahavath Achim Synagogue,
the Shrine, B’nai B’rith and Ful
ton Lodge, F. & A. M.
Rabbi Harry H. Epstein and
Cantor Joseph Schwartzman con
ducted the funeral at the chapel
of Henry M. Blanchard & Son
on October 16. Burial was in
•Greenwood Cemetery.
Surviving him are a daughter,
Mrs. Jules Beck, Redondo Beach,
Calif.; one sister, Mrs. A. S.
Chomsky, Atlanta; three broth
ers, B. A. Malloy, Stamford,
Conn.; Myer Malloy, Hamilton,
Bermuda, and Frank Malloy.
Bedford, Mass.; three grandchil
dren and a great grandson.
MRS. HERBERT SAUL
Mrs. Herbert Saul, popular At
lanta communal worker, died Oc
tober 16.
Rabbi Arnold Heisler and
Cantor Joseph Schwartzman
conducted the funeral at the
chapel of Henry M. Blanchard.
Burial was in Roseland Ceme
tery.
Mrs. Saul, who was 43, had
been a volunteer nurse’s aid and
had worked in hospitals for sev
eral years. She was also active
•with the Jewish War Veterans
Auxiliary, the Shearith Israel
Congregation and numerous oth
er pivic, religious and social
groups.
She leaves her husband and
two sons, Bert and Ivan Saul.
Also surviving are her mother,
Mrs. Sarah Bock; sisters, Mrs.
Sol Gillman, Mrs. Louis Ruskin
and Mrs. E. E. Blick, all of At
lanta; two brothers, Victor and
M. E. Bock of Atlanta and Joe
Bock of Chattanooga, and sever
al nieces and nephews.

Obituaries
Mrs. Sophie Butler
Mrs. Sophie R. Butler, for the
last forty years a resident of
Atlanta, died September 1.
Rabbi Harry H. Epstein and
Cantor Joseph Schwartzman con
ducted the funeral on Septem
ber 2 at the chapel of Henry
Blanchard & Son. Interment was
in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Butler is survived by her
husband, Jack Butler; a daugh
ter, Mrs. I. Ronin; two sons,
Jack and Melvin Rosenbaum. She
also leaves two sisters, Mrs. H.
Borowitz, all of Atlanta, and
Mrs. B. Kahn, Pelham, and six
grandchildren.
FRANK WARD
Frank Ward of Savannah died
October 11.
Rabbi Isadore Barnett and
Cantor Joseph Salsman conduct
ed the funeral at Sipple’s Mor
tuary October 13. Interment was
in Bonaventure Cemetery.
Mr. Ward is survived by his
wife; Mrs. Bertha R. Ward; two
daughters, Mrs. Henry Karsman
and Mrs. Karl Sutker of Beau-
S. C.; three brothers, Sam Ward,
Henry Ward and Ben Ward, all
of New York City; five grand
children.
Mrs. Fannie Raines
Mrs. Fahnie Raines of Atlan
ta died Thursday, October 16.
Funeral services were con
ducted October 17 at the chapel
of Henry M. Blanchard & Son.

ducted the rites, with bui ial in
in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Raines is' survived by a
daughter, Mrs. Herman New
man, Atlanta; two brothers,
Charles Smullian, Miami, and
Sam Smullian, Jacksonville, and
three grandchildren.
Miamian Decorated
for Heroism in Korea
MIAMI (JTA) — First Lieut.
Max Nussenbaum of this city has
been awarded the Silver Star and
the Bronze Star medals for hero
ism in action in Korea, it was
reported here this week. The
young Miamian also received the
Purple Heart for wounds receiv
ed when he led a platoon behind
enemy lines on a special mission.
After discharge from hospital,
Lt. Nussenbaum though reclassi
fied for non-combatant service,
went back to the front and in an
action wiped out an enemy pa
trol without loss to his platoon.

ond Distinguished Flying Cross
has been awarded to First Lieut.
Donald Weiner of this city, now
on service with the U. S. Air
Force in Korea it was announced
this week. The Cleveland Jewish
aviator has also received an Air
Medal with three oak leaf clus
ters and won his first Distin
guished Flying Cross in the Eu
ropean Theatre in World War II.
