Hadassah Groups Will Point Up Medical
Services to Israel at Meeting Monday
Atlanta’s four Hadassah
groups will observe Hadassah
Medical Organization month
Monday, Nov. 17, at a series of
simultaneous meetings.
Members will highlight their
Organization's support of the
Medical Center for which ground
was broken in Israel last June.
Hadassah devotes 56 percent of
its budget for Israel’s health.

After a hearty breakfast and
last minute instructions, memb
ership workers of the Atlanta
Zionist District will go out ring
ing doorbells for a full day on
Sunday, November 28.
That is the date that has been
apt for the launching of this
year’s membership campaign,
which is expected to set a new
high in enrollment.
Workers will canvass the resi
dential area in teams of two,
stopping for lunch and resuming
work until the evening, when
they will turn in their reports at
the regular monthly meeting
Herzlia will develop the Had
assah Medical Organization
theme through a Thanksgiving
party at the Mayfair Club at
I :30 p. m., presenting Mrs. Jack
Silver in the role of “Reap With
Joy.” Mrs. Theodore Oser and
Mrs. Morris Feldman will super
vise the music.
Henrietta Szold, will feature a
movie “This Is the Hour" at the
A. A. Center at 12:30 p.m., Mrs.
Henry Caplan, Atwood 0077, is
in charge of reservations. Mrs.
David Alterman, president will
report on the recent national
convention.
Tel Chai’s all-day Education
day will begin at 11:30 a.m. at
the home of Mrs. Joseph Karlick
at 2341 Montview Drive, N. W.,
with a box luncheon. Mrs. Phillip
Perling is program chairman, as
sisted by Mrs. Irving Kaler. Mrs.
Charles Weiner will present the
convention report.

evoked widespread favorable
comment.
The one day drive, which is
spearheading the campaign, is
under the direction of Harry
Classman, the district's member
ship chairman.

Double Dinner
Because of the cancellation by
the speaker, the Ahavath Achim
Brotherhood has postponed the
two-for-one dinner scheduled for
November 17.

Violinist Nov. 18
With Symphony
Tossy Spivakowsky, the vi
olinist who captured the hearts
of Atlantans in 1949 will play a
return engagement with the At
lanta Symphony Orchestra, Hen
ry Sopkin Conductor, on Tuesday
November 18, at 8:30 p. m. at
the Municipal Auditorium.
Spivakovsky is ranked among
the four greatest masters of the
violin today. A native of Odessa,
Russia, he made his violin debut
in Germany in 1910, at the age
of 10 years. The young fiddle
virtuoso has toured Europe and
was a nova.nighi sensation in
New York where he was invited
to play the Bartok concerto with
the New York Philharmonic un
der the baton of Artur Rodzin-
sky. He will play Mendelssohn’s
“Symphony No. 4 in A Major”
with the Atlanta Symphony.
An added feature of the Nov
ember 18th concert will be the
appearance of Miss Radie Bri
tain, American Composer, in the
audience. Miss Britain is a na
tive Texan, now residing in Cali
fornia, and the orchestra will
perform her latest composition,
“Prelude to an Opera.”
Music Appreciation
lecture Friday
Second lecture in the “Meet the
Music Series” will be held at 11
a. m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the At
lanta Public Library, under
sponsorship of the Atlanta Sym
phony Guild.
The series is planned free for
the public to increase enjoyment
of the world’s greatest music by
untrained listeners. Friday’s ses
sion will be conducted by Miss
Martha Galt, Canton, Ga., past
president of the Georgia Federa
tion of Music Clubs. She will
speak on Mendelssohn’s great
oratorio, “Elijah.”

Tells IMans for
Open House
Plans are now being completed
for the open house to be held at
the Jewish Home, Sunday, No
vember 30, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Under the sponsorship of the
Joint Committee on Volunteer
Services, of which Mrs. E. M.
Manning is chairman, arrange
ments are being made for the ex
hibit and sale of the many beau
tiful and useful articles made by
the residents in their Hobby
Shop.
Since June, when the Hobby
Shop was opened, close to 200 ar
ticles have been completed. These
include assorted men’s and wom
en’s belts, children’s dresses, ap
rons, various types of pot hold
ers, and a number of hand-
crocheted and hand-embroidered
items which are most decor.-stive
and practical. A special feature
of the exhibit will be two hand-
hooked rugs made by a resident
who only recently entered the
home.
The committee in charge of the
Open House is chaired by Mrs.
Irwin Erick and Mrs. J. M. Ros-
enfeld. Volunteers not only are
helping to prepace the exhibit,
but will take responsibility for
acting as hostesses at the Open
House. Refreshments will be
served.

tions for a fitting observance in
Dr. Weizmann’s memory. This
will be in the nature of a mem
orial meeting to be held Sunday,
December 7, at a place still to be
announced. Prominent national
and community leaders will ex
tol Dr. Weizmann’s services to
the Jewish people and pay tri
bute to his unremitting and suc
cessful battle for the establish
ment of the Jewish State.
In order to give concrete ex
pression to the feeling of vener
ation they have for Dr. Weiz
mann, the Zionist of Atlanta
have adopted a goal of 5,000
trees to be planted in the Weiz
mann Forest in Israel, a project
of the Jewish National Fund.
