Dear Editor: ,
One day last week I had the
honor and privilege of meeting
Frank Garson at his office. Thfe
meeting was for the purpose of
receiving aid for a deserving
young lady who was there with
me. Mr. Gurson had to plead with
her and beg her to accept his
check on account of pride. Frank
Garson impressed me as the
greatest humanitarian of our time,
Truly, a mun with a heart of gold.
His kindness and sincere advice
was very impressive.
While listening to Mr. Garson,
1 was reminded of a story that my
mother once told me many years
ago, about "Rob Shloimki,’’ who

was the richest man in the town
that she came from. He was not
only very religious, but a great
“Bal-tsdooki.” He was always
ready to help the needy. When a
poor family had to marry off a
daughter, it was Rab Shloimki
who made the wedding. When a
new roof was needed for the
Shuie, Rab Shloimki financed it.
When they built an old age home,
Rab Shloimki was the main con
tributor of money and time. One
day, Rab Yosel, who was very
poor, and who was blessed with
eight children, came to Rab Shlo
imki and asked him for a loan of
300 rubles so he could ’buy out a
little business where he was sure
he could make a living. “Well,
said Rab Shloimki, I will gladly
lend you the money, but 300 ru
bles is a lot of money.” Of course
I will not charge you any interest,
but you will have to sign a note
and get some one reliable to In
dorse it. “Rab Shloimki,” said Rab
Yosel,” you know all my relatives I
are poor and the only one that 1 1
know of who is reliable, who will!
endorse my note is the “Raboina j
Shcl Oilom.” (God) That is fine,!
said Rnb Shloimki, I wouldn’t!
want a better indorser. Just sign
your name on the top line and;
write down “Raboina Shcl Oilom” j
underneath, and here arc the 300'
rubles.
About two years later, Rab Yo
sel came back to Rab Shloimki
and brought him the 300 rubles.
“I am very sorry Rab Yosel, said
Rab Shloimki, I cannot take this
money as your indorser has al
ready paid it. In fact, he paid me
back five times as much. So you
don’t owe me anything.
Our Frank Garson is even
greater than Rab Shloimki.
