LEWIS-AXELROD
Miss Jane Lewis, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Lewis of
Atlanta, became the bride of Her
bert Warren Axelrod, son of Mr.
and Mrs. L. H. Axelrod of Atlanta,
in a ceremony March 19 at the
Temple. Rabbi Jacob M. Roths
child officiated.
Mr. Axelrod was his son’s best
man. Groomsmen were Arthur
Axelrod, Dr. Sidney Isenberg, Saul
Feldman, Alvin Minsk, Sanford
Orkin, Jerome Shure and Arthur
Bartell. Serving as ushers were
Nathan Leff, Jack Isenberg, Sam

Miss Carlene Lewis was her sis
ters maid of honor and brides
maids were Miss Helyne Bressler,
Miss Barbara Helyne Bressler,
Jerome Shure and Mrs. Jerome

Following the ceremony the
brides parents entertained at a
seated dinner at the Progressive
Club. After a honeymoon to Mi
ami Beach, the couple will reside
at 1078 Briarcliff Road.

Miss Joyce Wender t daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wender of At
lanta, became the bride of Henry
Sear Harris on March 23. Mr. Har
ris is the son of Mrs. M. P. Gott
lieb of Norfolk and the late Jesse
Harris of Norfolk.*-
The ceremony was performed by
Rabbi Harry Epstein at the Pro
gressive Club. Music was rendered
by Sammy Feldman, violinist,
Monte Davis, pianist, and Mrs. Es
telle Karp, vocalist.
Miss Charlotte Horowitz was
the bride’s maid of honor. Brides
maids were the Misses Ann Sar-
faty, Dorothy Kreiger and Rosalyn
Nodvin. Junior bridesmaid was El
len Balser. Jill Toran of Atlanta
and Betty Jean Altschul of Nor
folk were flowergirls. Mrs. Ben
Weissmann kept the bride’s book.
Howard Goodman was best man
for Mr. Harris and the groomsmen
were Marvin Wender, brother of
the bride, Charles Shainker and
Walter Rice. The ushers were Ho
ward Rosenblatt and Sam Green
berg of Norfolk and Joe Gerstein.
Following the wedding a recep
tion was held for family and
friends.
After a wedding trip through
Florida the young couple will re
side in Atlanta where" Mr. Harris
is associated with Leonard M. Ber
nes & Co., Certified Public Ac
countants.

Mr. and Mrs. Miler Kaminsky
of Savannah announce the en
gagement of their daughter Betty
to Perry Jacobson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Abraham Jacobson of Colum
bia, Ohio.
Miss Kaminsky will receive her
B. A. degree from the University
of Pennsylvania, and a certificate
from the Pennsylvania Academy
of Fine Arts.
Mr. Jacobson was graduated
from Harvard University where he
received nis A.B. degree. He also
received M. A. degrees from the
Graduate Schools of Applied Arts
and Science and Business Admin
istration at. Harvard. He is now
connected with the Savoy Shoe Co.
of Elizabethtown, Pa., as produc
tion manager.
Mr. and Mrs. Kaminsky will en
tertain for the couple with an op
en house, March 28, from 8 to 10.
The wedding will take place in
June.
Larry Richman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harry L. Richman of Sa
vannah, became Bar Mitzvah on
March *20 at the Agudath Achim
Synagogue.

Miss Doris Joyce Gilson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David
Gilson of Allison Island, Miami
Beach, Fla., became the bride of
Jack Ellis Levy of Chicago, son
of Mrs. Abe Levy of Atlanta and
the late Mr. Levy on March 27 at
the Park Lane Hotel, New York
City. ,
The ceremony was performed by
Dr. Joseph Glovitch and was fol
lowed by a reception in the Crys
tal Ballroom of the Park Lane.
Mrs. Ted Levy of Atlanta, the
bridegroom’s sister-in-law was ma
tron of honor. The other bridal at
tendants were Misses Fanya Car
ter, Caryle Brenner, Ellen Gossert
and Rosaline Raginsky. Ted Levy,
twin brother of the bridegroom,
was best man. Ushers were Albert
Gil§on, Harold Hillman, Martin
Seligson and Jerry Levy.
After a cruise to Bermuda, Mr.
and Mrs. Levy will live at 2909 N.
Sheridan Road, Chicago.

daughter Sylvia to Werner B.
Speigel, son-of Mr. and Mrs. Al
bert Spiegel of Atlanta.
Miss Hirsch is a graduate of
the University of Georgia where
she received her B.S. in Educa
tion. She was a member of the
Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, I. Z.
F. A. and the Hillel Foundation.
Following her graduation, Miss
Hirsch attended Emory University.
Mr. Spiegel attended Georgia
Tech.
The ceremony will be an event
of June 14 at the Shearith Israel
Synagogue in Columbus.

been arranged with Oxford and
Cambridge. While there the team
will be entertained at a dinner
party to be given zy the Duke of
Edinburgh.
