My opponent’s only criticism of my administration is that it’s “time for a change."
Don’t you agree that experience—whether it is experience in running a house,
operating a farm, running a factory, working in a mill, or building a bridge—is
invaluable?
I believe that without EXPERIENCE the Hartsfield administration could not have
begun Atlanta’s fine program of progress and expansion.
Let’s look at this record:
Here are some of the things the Hartsfield administration has begun, and which
it will continue:
i.
3.
4.
An expanded expressway system, now in
progress.
Improved park and recreational system,
with swimming pools, community houses
and play centers fairly distributed in all
sections.
An enlarged waterworks system and a
continuance of the great main laying
program to all sections of our city.
A modern street lighting program, ex
tending to all sections, making Atlanta'
am of the best lighted cities in America.
Continual improvement of Atlanta’s
great airport, keeping it one of the most
modern in the nation.
d. Continuance of a great street resurfac
ing program and cooperation with rail
roads in providing more industrial sid
ings which means more plants and more
Jobs.
7. Expansion of Atlanta’s Are protection
system, with lower insurance rates.
8. The building of the great Buford Dam
which will forever guarantee a water
supply for a city of a million people and
provide a great lake 45 minutes away
for recreational purposes.
9. The improvement of Atlanta’s traffic
through coordinated action of various
Planning Bodies now at work.
10. The preservation of Atlanta’s excellent
financial condition maintaining a record
of fourteen years operating upon a strict
cash basis.
