Jewish Home Dedication May 11 for Chapel
Given by Chevra Tehilim Free Loan Association
On Sunday, May 17, at 3:30 p.m. the Chapel at the Jewish Home
will be dedicated. Rabbi Harry Epstein will be the principal speaker.
Abe Goldstein will act as chairman, and Frank Garson will rep
resent the Central Board on Care of Jewish Aged in responding to
the dedication. Morris Freedman, president of the Chevra Tehilim
Free Loan Association, will speak for that organization, which memor
ialized the Chapel. .
A Mincha service is scheduled to follow the dedication exercises.
This service will be led by Cantor Joseph Schwartzman.

ration. In addition, the billing will
include a comedy sketch, starring
Danny Kaye in “Getting an Eye
ful.”
The Chapter hopes to raise funds
for its quota for the B’nai B’rith

Capetown, South Africa, have ar
rived in Atlanta to be the guests
of their family, the Morris Franks
and Jacob Frank. They will sail
on the Queen Mary, May 13, re
turning home after celebrating
their twenty-fifth wedding anni
versary in the states. ^

Camp Belle Aire
Mrs. Minette Epstein Smith of
Atlanta has been appointed “camp
mother’’ of Camp Belle Aire, near
Sparta, Tenn.
Bea Komisar, director of the
new boys’ and girls’ gamp, made
the announcement here this week.
“We have chosen Mrs. Smith for
her great knowledge of children
and her personal understanding
and kindness," Mrs. Komisar stat
ed. “She will serve as a sort of
mother-away-from-home for our
younger campers in particular, to
insure their happiness and emo
tional security while with us."’
Mrs. Smith and her husband,
John, live at 1174 Lanier Blvd.
N. E. They have three children:
Beverly Elaine, 19, Arlene Lynn,
15, and Andrea Iris, 10.
She is a member of the board
of the Jewish Home at 260 14th
St., N. W., Hadassah, and of the
Council of Jewish Women. She
has been active in many chari
ties.
Her husband is president of J.
& B. Smith Co., a cooperage firm.
Armed Forces Week
Richard H. Rich is a co-chair
man of a committee planning an
all-Armed Forces Week in honor
of meq and women in uniform
from May 10-17 in Atlanta.
B’nai B’rith Helps
Sponsor Mom’s Day
At Veterans Hospital
B’nai B’rith and the Atlanta
chapter of the American Red
Cross will join in sponsoring a
Mother’s Day program. Sunday at
the Veterans Hospital on Peach
tree Road. Abe Goldberg and Mrs.
Irvine Morris are chairmen for
the respective organizations.
All visitors to the hospital on
that day, as well as the patients,
will be served refreshments. Ap
proximately 400 guests, relatives
and patients are expected. Punch
and cookies will be served in ’the
afternoon.

Mr. Cooper himself is only 43 years old, a native of Atlanta.

schoois and for years was associated with the Atlanta Journal
and Bradley &, Sons.
Lately, he has operated his own business, Enterprise En
graving Company. He has wide business connections In his
specialized field of engraving and in communal business circles,
being active In the Chamber of Commerce and especially as a

Besides his trade affiliation, he Is a full-time pastor of the
Baptist Church. He has been active with the Atlanta Minis
ters’ Association and Christian Council.
My platform, he maintains, “is not that of a politician, but
of a business man. I favor honesty, justice and loyalty to every
citizen regardless of religion, race, color or rreed for if elected
I will be alderman not of any special interest or group but of
all the people. I promise to serve them to the best of my ability.”
