it has maintained was made possi
ble by the fine support which it
has received from the Atlanta
Jewgish community.
To insure the continued main
tenance of the Home at the level
at which it is operating additional
income is needed. The member
ship at the present time is close
to 800. While proud of this
achievement, Frank Garson, presi
dent of the Home, felt that there
are still many individuals in the
community who should become
members of the Home. He pointed
out that there are four classifica
tions of members, as follows: Gen
eral — $10.00, Contributing —
$25.00, Sustaining—$50, $75, $100,
Committee of Foundation Mem
bers — $200. He urged everyone
who has not yet done his part in
the work of this organization to
enroll in whatever category suits
him best.
A recently issued annual report,
which was dedicated to Frank
Garson, describes ,in a very read
able way, the activities in the
Home during 1952. Favorable
comments were received from
many individuals, including Clark
Tibbitts, Chairman, Committee on
Aging and Geriatrics of the United
States Department of Health, Wel
fare, and Education. Mr. Tibbitts
lauded the Home in referring to
“the character of the building, the
program and services for resi
dents, and the method of handling
financial arrangements with re
sidents—.” Other outstanding
leaders, including Dr. Russell Op-
penheimer and A r m a n d May,
wrote congratulatory letters about
the first report.
At the present time the Home is
operating very close to capacity.
It has entered into community
support agreements with Savan
nah and Augusta, and is now
serving the residents of those com
munities. Other cities, such as
Columbus, Macon and Albany,
have indicated an interest in en
tering into similar agreements
with the Home.
It is planned to have high holi
day services in the Home’s beauti
ful chapel. Nathan Katz, who has
given considerable srevice to the
Home, is again going to officiate
at these services.
