Community Youth
Invited to Service
At Or Ve Shalom
All Atlanta Chapters of A.Z.A.
and B.B.G. will participate in a
religious service for youth at 8
p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the Or Ve
Shalom Synagogue, as a part of
the annual observance of A.Z.A.
Sabbath.
Simultaneously, most of the
thirty thousand members of the
B’nai B'rith Youth Organization
in 250 other communities through
out thhe United States, Canada
and Mexico will be entering into
a national demonstration of the
devotion of BBYO members to the
religious aspects of the Jewish
heritage.
Rabbi Joseph Cohen will open
the service and turn it over to
Acting Rabbi Ned Cohen and Act
ing Cantor David Geffen. Ser-
monettes will be delivered by Lil
lian Lander and Charles Fire
stone. Other youth members parti
cipating in the conducting of the
services are Joan Pels and Ruth
Levin; Rita Skott and Larry
Glassman. Committee Chairmen
are Lois Cfjplan, Telephone Invita
tions; Ruth Levin, Refreshments;
Sherry Krasner and Julian Yudel-
son, Publicity and Posters.
Serving in an advisory capacity
are Mrs. Charles Yerlow, Mrs.
Henry Igar, Mr. Durward Gerson,
Mr. Dawson Oppenheimer, Mr.
Irwin Greenbaum, Chairman of
the Atlanta BBYO Committee and
Mrs. Hilfred N. Bossap, Atlanta
Regional Director.
The B’nai B’rith Youth Council
extends a most cordial invitation
to members of all youth groups in
Atlanta, together with their par
ents. Refreshments will be served
after the servics.

To Honor Members
At Silver Tea
The Beth Jacob Sisterhood an
nounces a combined Silver and
Membership Tea to be held 3 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Beth
Jacob Congregation social hall,
562 Boulevard. Highlighting the
program will be a talk by Rabbi
Emanuel Feldman, and a humor
ous skit, written, produced, and
acted by members of the Sister
hood. The cast will also perform
several Israeli folk dances.
Refreshments will be served.
Three doorprizes are to be award
ed during the course of tea, and
everyone attending will be pres
ented with a very useful souvenir.

Silver and Membership Tea.

Mrs. Lewis Cohen of Beauford,
S' C., formerly of Savannah, an
nounces the engagement of her
daughter, Shirley Charlotte, to
Bernard M. Rudy of Richmond,
Va„ son of Mrs. Bessie Rudy.
Miss Cohen is a graduate of
Beaufort High School and is em
ployed by Civil Service at Parris
Island, S. C.
Mr. Rudy attended the Rich
mond Professional Institute of the
College of William and Mary.
The wedding will be an event of
early spring.
FRIEDMAN-WOLFF
Announcement is made of the
engagement of Miss Doris Fried
man to Edwin Lynn Wolff, son of
Mrs. Samuel Edwin Wolff, of Sa
vannah and the late Mr. Wolff.
Miss Friedman is the daughter of
Mrs. Victor Mayer and Nehemiah
Friedman, of New York City.
Miss Friedman is a graduate of
Vassar College, At present she is
assistant to the forum director of
the New York Herald-Tribune.
Mr. Wolff is a graduate of Phil
lips Exeter Academy and of Yale
University, where he was a mem
ber of the Whiffenpoofs and of
Phi Beta Kappa. He received a
Master of Arts degree from the
University of California, and dur
ing World War II he was a weath
er officer in the U. S. Army Air
Force. He is now associated with
G. P. Putnam’s Sons, New York
book publishers.
The wedding plans will be an
nounced later.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Samuel
Piassick of Atlanta announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Miss Diane Piassick, to Lee Jay
Kuhr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
mond Kuhr of Savannah.
Miss Piassick is a graduate of
the University of Georgia, where
she was a member of Delta Phi
Epsilon Sorority, of which she
was corresponding secretary.
Mr. Kuhr is attending the Uni
versity of Georgia, where he is a
member of Phi Epsilon Pi Frater
nity, of which he is president.
Plans for the wedding will be
announced at a later date.
Alexander-Schwartz
Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Alex
ander of Atlanta, announce the
engagement of their daughter, An
nette B. to Leonard Schwartz, son
of Mrs. Oscar Schwartz and the
late Mr. Schwartz of Atlanta.
Miss Alexander was graduated
from Girls High School and at
tended the Georgia School of
Technology. She is a draftsman
for Atlanta Transit Co.
Mr. Schwartz graduated from
Boys High School and attended
the Atlanta Division, University
of Georgia, and Emory University.
He is connected with Allene
Sportswear Manufacturing, Inc.
The wedding of the couple will
be December 27.

Mrs. Henry Solomson and Mrs.
Samuel Mohr of Atlanta have re
turned from a Caravan to Thom-
asville and Brunswick for the
Southeast Federation of the Tem
ple Sisterhood.
Enroute to New York, Hugh
Pels of Buenos Aires was a recent
visitor in Atlanta to see his son,
Henry, a student at Georgia Tech,
and his brother and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Wily Pels.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Hirsoh and
Mrs. Lee Weil of Atlanta are
spending the* week-end in Mont
gomery and Birmingham.
Mrs. J. J. Heilman, former At-
lantaian, who is now residing in
St. Petersburg, was a recent visit
or in Atlanta.
Mrs. Herman Loeb of Mont
gomery spent several days in At
lanta last week with Dr. and Mrs.
H. J. Rosenberg.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Solomson
of Atlanta are visiting their child
ren, Dr. and Mrs. Louis Rosen, in
St. Petersburg for a couple of
weeks.
Mrs. H. Susman and son of
Chattanooga, formerly Miss Sylvia
Nussbaum of Atlanta, is visiting
her sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Chas. Shapiro and Mr.
and Mrs. Sidney Shapiro in At
lanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Nussbaum of
Chattanooga have just returned to
Atlanta from an extended visit in
Miami Beach, and will remain
here to attend their grandson’s
Bar Mitzvah on November 21.
Friends of Mrs Max Orenstein
will be happy to learn that she is
returning home next week from
the hospital where she under
went surgery.
Leopold Schoenberg of Beau
fort, S. C. is recuperating at the
Crawford Long Hospital in Atlan
ta after a recent operation.
Sandra Goldstein, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Louis H. Goldstein
of Atlanta, a junior at the Univer
sity of Alabama, was initiated as
president of the Delta Phi Epsilon
ocicus
Sorority, reactivated after sixteen
years. Miss Goldstein also has the
lead in the latest television play
staged by the Crimson Theater.
Mizrachi Women
Meet November 18
The Mizrachi Women’s Or
ganization of Atlanta will hold a
dessert luncheon meeting at 1:30
p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at
the Shearith Israel Synagogue
Educational Center, 1140 Univer
sity Dr.
The highlight of the meeting
will be a presentation of a cita
tion from the National Office to
the local Mizrachi Good Will
Club, which will be honored for
its contributions and work to
wards tho Mizrachi children in
Israel.
An additional highlight of the
meeting will be a report on the
Mizrachi Women’s National Con
vention, which was held in Atlan
tic City. Mrs. Sylvia Auerbach,
president of tYie local Mizrachi
group, was chief Atlanta delegate
to the convention.
