A. J. C. to Hear Journalist Exposer of
Forged Roosevelt-Young Israel Letter
Zachariah Shuster, director of

can Jewish Committee, will ad
dress Atlanta A. J. C. members
Thursday, January 21, at the Pro
gressive Club.
His talk will follow a dinner at

Mr. Shuster’s talk will be “Jews
in Europe—What Hope?” accord
ing to Morton L. Weiss, Atlanta
chairman.
The visitor, whose contributions
on Jewish subjects have been
numerous, has had published ar
ticles in such a variety of periodi
cals as the Yiddish "Zukunft, the
Hebrew Hadoar, The Nation, Com
mentary, and the Menorah Jour
nal. He exposed as an anti- Semi
tic forgery a letter in a Paris
newspaper, in which President
Roosevelt allegedly asked the
president of Young Israel to act
as a mediator between himself and
Stalin in a plan to divide the
world.

Mr. Shuster’s sensational jour
nalistic career reached another
pinnacle during the anti-Semitic
Czech trials and purges, during
which he played a leading role in
focusing world attention on the
falsity and the sinister implica
tions of the trials.
Hunter College Prof. Speaks Sunday
At Mizrachi Testimonial Dinner
Bernard Lander,, prominent ed
ucator, will be the guest speaker
at the Testimonial Dinner Sunday
evening at the A. A. Educational
Center honoring Rev. P. S. Clein.
Mr. Clein has been president of
Atlanta Mizrachi for the last ten
•.ears. Proceeds from the dinner
meeting will be used towards the
construction of Bar Ilan Universi
ty. which Mizrachi is constructing
<n Israel. A special room will be
dedicated to Mr, Clein.

of the Mayor’s Committee on Uni-

pied a pulpit at Baltimore and

Donor Luncheon of Shearith Is
rael Sisterhood on Wednesday,
Jan. 27, at 12:30, at the Education
al Building, 1140 University Dr.,
N. E. The program will highlight
dramatic sketches to be given by
Mrs. Rose Klotz and Mrs. Frances
Mannheim Souvenirs will be giv
en to all attending as well as other
lovely gifts.
This is the main fund-raising
project sponsored by the Sister
hood and the proceeds are used to
carry out the work of the Sister
hood and the Sunday School.

The Jolly Judaeans are going to
visit the Jewish Home on Sunday,
January 17. They are going to pre

Christian and Jew Meet” and “Is

Pioneer Women II
Set Dessert Tea
A dessert tea and meeting will
be held by the Golda Meyerson
Chapter of Pioneer Women at the
Jewish Community Center at J:00
p. m. Wednesday, January 20. An
interesting feature of the meet
ing will be the showing of a film
entitled, "Age of Achievement,"
which is the story of Histadrut,
the Federation of Labor in Israel.
Door prizes will be given.
A national membership drive for
Pioneer Women is now in progress.
This drive began December 1 and
will end March 18. Each member
enrolling a new member will have
an opportunity to be awarded a
free trip to Israel,
Pioneer Women in the United
States and Canada, for over 28
years have furnished most of the
funds for the work of the sister
organization in Israel, the Work
ing Women’s Council, the largest
women’s organization there; and
has conducted 65 percent of the
social services for the imigrants
who arrived in the New State in
the past five years.
They maintain children’s insti
tutions of all kinds; kindergartens,
day nurseries, clubs, boarding
homes and summer camps. They
also conduct agricultural training
| farms and youth villages. There
! are also vocational training cours-
i es for youth and women in pro-
! fessions such as sewing, home eco
nomics, embroidery, hand weav
ing, hair-dressing and hotel man
agement.
Members and their friends are
invited to attend this meeting.

(messenger), will present a talk
on Israel and its problems
at the Study Group to be given by
the Business and Professional
group of Hadassah on Sunday,
January 17, at 3 p. m., at the home
of Mrs. Ralph DeKoven, 853

announced by Mrs. Alex Diamond,
Study Group Chairman.
Mr. Peri, who has been assigned
by the American Zionist Youth
Commission to do Zionist youth
work in the South, is a fourth
generation Sabra.

A joint social evening is being
sponsored the Beth Jacob
Brotherhood and Sisterhood at
7 p. m. Sunday, January 24, at the
Synagogue Building.
The evening will begin with a
special spaghetti dinner and will
be topped with entertainment on
the professional level, according
to Marvin Slotin, Brotherhood
president.
