DUMPLINGS
1 teaspoon salt
3 large potatoes
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons shortening
1 egg well beaten
Peel and boil 3 large potatoes
in salted water until tender. Drain
water and mash potatoes finely.
Add the melted shortening, salt,
sifted flour, baking powder and
well beaten egg. Knead the dough
and shape into flat cakes. Mix
together 1 cup pot cheese with
1 tablespoon melted butter, 1
tablespoon matzoh flour and 1/2
teaspoon salt, and 1 well bedten
egg. Place a tablespoon of cheese
on each potato cake and pinch to
gether the edges. Drop them into
-boiling water and cook 2 minutes.
Remove dumplings with a perfo
rated spoon and serve with sour
cream.

3 cups sifted flour
3 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup honey
1 cup coffee
2 tablespoons oil
2 teaspoons double acting bak
ing powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons blanched almonds

The group also voted to plant
eighteen trees in the J. N. F. Nor
man Schanin Forest in honor of
Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, presi
dent emeritus of Bethune-Cook-
man College, Daytona Beach, in
recognition of her inspiring ad
dress to the delegates of the Oneg
Shabbat.
Tentatively the regional officers
and committee chairman decided
to hold their spring Executive
composed of: George Stern, Max Committee meeting in Charleston
Pollock, Leonard Mendelsohn, sometime during March.

Winners Of Annual
Winter Conclave
Winners of the regional contests
which took place at the Southern
Senior Judaeans Winter Conclave
held last week in Daytona Beach,
Florida, and who were announced
at the final banquet attended by
160 delegates and guests were:
Choral Contest: the Mahrud
Senior Chapter of Durham; Folk
Dancing: the combined teams from
the Zionettes of Judaea, J. K. C.
and Y. O. J., all of Nashville; and
Goldye Naftdlin of the Ben Gurion
Chapter, Jacksonville, won the
cup for extemporaneous speaking.
Harriett Scheurner of Memphis
was runner-up in the extempo
raneous speaking contests.
Other winners for athletic events
were as follows:
Boys’ Basketball: Nashville Y.
O. J. who will represent the region
at the National Competition to be
held in September at the National
Convention, and whose team is
Mrs. M. Robhenberg, Jacksonville;
Helen Schneider, Atlanta; and
Robert Laskey, Savannah.

strike of the municipal'workers in
Jerusalem continues through its
-^fourth week, the Jerusalem mu
nicipality decided this week-end

hold elections for a new municipal
