Vets, Masons Invite Public
To Give Blood

Lodge No. 216, invite the public
to take part in the joint commun
ity-wide Blood Donor Day from
9 a. m. to 2 p. m. Sunday, Jan
uary 31. at the Red Cross Center,
Peachtree & 6th Streets.
‘ Come down while the kids are
at Sunday School, take turns with
the wife in baby sitting,” the
sponsors announced. ‘ We arranged
this day for Sunday, so everybody
could come."
“With the ever increasing fight
against Polio and the findings of
new sera daily, we have a duty
both to ourselves and our families,
friends and community to give
blood at every opportunity.”
“We hold a blood day every
three months to give you this op
portunity and cooperate with urg
ent requests from the Red Cross.
Each unit of anti-polio serum
used on our children and the chil
dren of our friends require one
pint of whole blood.”
“Only people like yourself can
meet the needs of the Infantile
Paralysis Foundation for blood—
the one material which science has
not, found a way to produce arti
ficially.”
“Besides Polio, of course, blood
is needed by men who fought in
Korea and on other battlefields
as well as by hospitals.”

Miss Rae Greenfield, daughter
of Mrs. Ethel Greenfield of Sa
vannah, became the bride of Mar
vin Halpern, son of Mr. and Mrs.
S. Halpern of Jacksonville, Janu
ary 10, in the Temple Ahavath
Chesed, Jacksonville. Rabbi Lef-
kowitz performed the ceremony.
Mrs. Sidney L. Derrper was ma
tron of honor and only attendant.
Raymond Halpern of Jackson
ville served as his brother's best
man, and ushers were Gilbert
Geller of Jacksonville, Barron
Goodman and Herbert Goodman.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held in the auditorium
of the Temple.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tuck of
Atlanta announce the engagement
of their daughter, Elsie Elizabeth
Tuck, to Erwin Sisken, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Max Sisken of Newport,
Tennessee.
Miss Tuck is a graduate of
Smith High School and was a
member of the F. O. Z. sorority,
and is now associated with the
Liberty Mutual Insurance Com
pany.
Mr. Sisken received his B. S.
degree in Industrial Engineering
at the University of Tennessee and
was a member of the Zeta Beta
Tau froternity. He is now in busi
ness in Newport.
The wedding will take place
February 21 and afteu a wedding
trip the couple will reside in New
port.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Vrono an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter Irene Gloria to Gerald
Heller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max
Heller of Ocilla, Ga.
Miss Vrono is a graduate of
Henry Grady High School and the
University of Georgia where she
was a member of Delta Phi Ep
silon Sorority. She is now associ
ated with the Atlanta Public
School System.
Mr. Heller is a graduate of
Gordon Military College and the
University of Georgia where he
was a member of Alpha Epsilon
Pi Fraternity. He now a Lieuten
ant in the Armor Division of
United States Army stationed in
Korea.
Wedding plans will be an
nounced later.
Mrs. Minnie Ebner is visiting
her children, Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Fine and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
Ebner in Atlanta.

Atlanta are leaving this week for
a trip to Nassau.

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Franco
and son of Atlanta, visited Mrs.
Franco’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Shapiro in Tampa, for the
celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Sha
piro’s 25th wedding anniversary
on January 20. Mrs. Franco is the
former Sylvia Shapiro of Atlanta,
and Mrs. Shapiro is the former
Leah Lahman, formerly of Atlanta.

visiting her daughter, Mrs. Edwin
Rothschild, of Columbus, who is
recuperating from a recent opera
tion.
Eugene Allen Kline is with
Judge William Orr of the 9th U. S.
Circuit of Appeals, with head
quarters in San Francisco. Mr.
Kline spent the recent holidays
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.
J. Steinback in Atlanta. While
home on New Year’s day he re
ceived a telegram that he had
passed the California State Bar,
Two years ago he became a mem
ber of the Georgia State Bar.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shoenberg
of Great Neck, Long Island, N. Y.
are visiting Mrs. Shoenberg’s
mother, Mrs. E. Eisenberg and
brother, Dr. Simon .Eisenberg in
Savannah.
Mrs. D. J. Slenker of White
Plains, N. Y. is the guest of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Har
ris of Savannah.
Dr. Paul Teplis who has recent
ly returned from Berlin, Germany,
has received his discharge from
the U. S. Army and is now in
Nassau, B. B„ where he is affili
ated with the Walt Disney Studios
for several months. Upon return
ing to Atlanta Dr. Teplis will be
gin private practice.
