Columbia at the invitation of the

He conducted Evening Services
this past Friday night before an
unusually large gathering who had
been invited to attend by letters
j from Board Chairman Jake Freed.
Rabbi Wald received his Rabbi-
i nical diploma at Pressburg, Hun-
| gary; his Art degree at the Univer-
! sity of London and the degree of
Doctor of Philosophy at the. Uni
versity of Zurich, Switzerland.
He has served as rabbi in Hemp-
j stead, England, and at East Lon
don, South Africa, and for the past
five years has occupied the pulpit
at Temple Israel in Sharon, Mass.,
a Conservative Congregation.
Rabbi Wald has had his writings
I published by the Oxford Univer
sity Press. He is married and has
J three children.
| Ben Klein, associate director of
1 the Laurel Street U.S.O., helped
to work out and conducted a U.S.
j O. Variety Show at the Fort Jack-
I son military hospital.
Barbara Bogen, daughter of Dr.
j and Mrs. E. J. Bogen, was one of
1 the preformers at the show, sing-
' ing several ballads.
Mrs. Bernard Kahn was named
■ • chairman of the Woman’s Divi-
[ sion of the United Jewish Appeal
| for 1954 at a recent meeting with
| Mrs. Hyman Simon appointed co-
chairman of the drive.
An opening luncheon will be |
held on Tuesday, April 13, at the
Jefferson Hotel.
Vice chairmen who will repre-
1 sent their respective organiza-
1 tions will include Mrs. Lee Baker,
Haddassah; Mrs. Dan Daniel, Tree
of Life Sisterhood; Mrs. Frank

dened to learn of the sudden
death of Mrs. Estroff’s father,
Abe Levin, in Nashville, on April
1.

dened to learn of the sudden
death of Mrs. Moog’s father, Mr.
Silver in New York City, on
April 1.
Dr. Ira Goldberg was awarded
second prize for his first prepared
speech before the Augusta Toast
masters Club recently. Dr. 'Gold
berg gave an autobiographical
talk, which is the custom for first
speeches for new members.
