evening of September 16th and
on September 17th and Septem
ber 18th, through arrangements
made by the National Jewish Wei.

Chaplain (1st Lt.) Maurice
Lamm, of Fort Benning, will con
duct religious services at a spe
cial military Rosh Hashonah ser
vice on September 18 (commcric-
ing at 11:00 a. m.) at the Temple,

lanta, Ga. The JWB-Armed Ser
vices Committee in Atlanta, head
ed by Herbert It. Elsas, General
Chairman, and Mrs. Frank Gar-
son, Hospitality Chairman, have
arranged hospitality for all Jew
ish servicemen and women who
obtain holiday leaves from their
posts or hospitals.
According to Mrs. Garson, there
will be approximately 400 GIs in
attendance in Atlanta who, in
addition to attending the special
Military Services on Sunday, will
be guests at the various Syna
gogues commencing Friday even
ing, Sept. 16.
The Rosh Hashonah arrange
ments in Atlanta are part of
JWB’s world-wide Rosh Hasonah
services conducted this year by
Jewish chaplains in Korea, Ja
pan, Hawaii, the Philippines,
Guam, Okinawa, North Africa,
Alaska, Greenland, Iceland, New
foundland, France Germany,
England, Italy, Austria, the Car
ibbean area and the United
States. The 100 full-time and
250 part-time Jewish chaplains
involved in the High Holy Days
effort were recruited and endors
ed by JWB’s Commission on Jew
ish Chaplaincy, composed of rep
resentatives of the three major
rabbinical bodies ■— The Central
Conference of American Rabbis
(Reform); the Rabbinical Assem
bly of America (Conservative),
and the Rabinical Council of
America (Orthodox).
Religious supplies and kosher
foods used at religious services
overseas (in addition to those
shipped to installations in this
country) were sent out in June
and carried on Army transports
or flown by the Air Force to the
remotest posts. JWB Rosh Ho-
shonah arrangements include*
shipment of thousands of prayer-
books, calendars, holiday leaflets,
and greeting cards, hundreds of
recording discs, candlesticks, sho-
fars, wine, gefilte fish, kosher
meats and other food items.
Thousands of holiday gifts have
been shipped abroad by local
units of JWB’s Women’s Organ
izations’ Division for distribution
Beth El Sisterhood's
Break Fast Dance
The second annual "Break the
Fast Dance,” sponsored by the
Sisterhood of Congregation Beth
El will be held Monday. Sept. 26,
at the Progressive Club at 9 p. m.
Mrs. Lewis W’illner and Mrs.
Leonard Bagen have been nam
ed co-chairmen of the affair.
Sammy Feldman and his or
chestra will provide the music
for dancing. Professional enter
tainment for the floor show will
be announced later.
All proceeds from the dance
will go to the Beth El Sunday
School.

Mrs. Stanley Friedman and Mrs.
Frank Spiegel are in charge of
ticket sales.
Other members of the dance
committee include Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Levine, Mrs. Jack Zweck-
er, Mrs. Stanley Friedman, Mrs.
Frank Spiegel, Mrs. Abe Kraar,
Mrs. Irwin Krick, Mrs. Fred
Hirsch, Mrs. Fred Levy, and
Mrs. Henry Birnbrey.

At the Atlanta JWB Military
Service there will be high-rank
ing military officials and prom
inent civilians.
In addition to Mr. Elsas and
Mrs. Carson, other members of
the Executive Committee of the
Atlanta JWB-Armed Services
Committee participating in these
hospitality plans are Hyman S.
Jacobs, treasurer; Mrs. Sam P.
Alterman, secretary; Jack Ber
man, Dr. Marvin Goldstein, Max
A. Feldman, vice chairmen; and
Leon Goldberg, co-ordinator.
