Blum-Bernstein
Mrs. Samuel Blum, of Augusta,
announces the marriage of her
daughter, Sara Marjorie, to
Charles S. Bernstein of Charles
ton, S.C., on August 31.
Rabbi Norman Goldburg officat-
ed at the ceremony, which was
held in the Richmond Hotel in
Augusta, and followed by a wed
ding supper attended by members
of the immediate families of both
the bride and groom.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her brother, Mr. Harold
L. Blum of Sylvania, Ga. Her sis
ter, Mrs. Emanuel Most of New
York City, was her matron of hon
or, and Mr. Melvin Berlinsky of
Charleston, served as best man.
Among the out-of-town guests
attending were: Mr. and Mrs.
Manning Bernstein, Mrs. S. B.
Nachman, Melvin Berlinsky, Mr.
and Mrs. Maurice Bernstein, all
of Charleston, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold L. Blum, Miss Faye Blum,
Master Ronald Blum of Sylvania,
Ga., and Mrs. Emanuel Most of
New York City.
Mr. Bernstein, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Manning Bernstein of
Charleston, S.C., was graduated
from the South Carolina School
of Law, and is presently engaged
in the practice of law in Charles
ton, where the young couple plan
to make their home.
Mrs. Bernstein, originally from
Charles Town, West Virginia, at
tended the University of Georgia,
and for the past year has made
her home in Augusta.
Weisburd - Siegel
At an open house reception,
Dr. and Mrs. Edward Weisburd
of Newark, N. J. announced the
engagement of their daughter,
Beverly, to Jerome H. Siegel, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Isadore M. Siegel.
Miss Weisburd, a graduate of
Weequahic High School, attended
the University of Georgia where
she was a member of Sigma Delta
Tau Sorority
Mr. Siegel, a graduate of Henry
Grady High, attended Emory Uni
versity where he was a member
of Alpha Epsilon Pi Social Fra
ternity and Alpha Phi Omega
Service Fraternity. He received
this Bachelor of Science Degree
from Southern College of Phar-
maby where he was selected to
American College Student Leader,
President of the Junior Class,
President of the Student Body
’53-54, Treasurer of Phi Delta Chi
Fraternity and Sec-Treasurer of
American Pharmaceutical Associa
tion student branch. Mr. Siegel
is now doing graduate work at
the University of Georgia.
A November wedding is plan
ned.
Shattah-Channon
Miss Catherine Shattah, daugh
ter of Mrs. Matilda Shattah, of
Atlanta, became the bride of
Albert M. Channon of New York
Sept. 11 at Or Ve Shalom Syna
gogue. Rabbi Joseph Cohen offici
ated. The bride-groom’s parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Channon
of New York.
Following the ceremony, Mrs.
Shattah entertained at a reception
at the Standard Town and Country
Club for members of the wedding
party, the immediate families and
out-of-town guests.
Joseph Shattah gave his sister
in marriage. Mrs. Frank Backil-
man was matron of honor and

bridesmaid. Esther Alhadeff of
Montgomery, Ala., and Margot
Rosenbaum of Great Neck, N.Y.,
were junior bridesmaids. Robert
Charles Channon was his brother’s
best man. Groomsmen were Solo
mon Shattah of Montgomery, Ala.,
brother of the bride, and Frank
Backilman and Morris Shattah of
Montgomery, brother of the bride,
were ushers. Mrs. Saul Alhadeff
of Montgomery, Ala., kept the
bride’s book.
