Open Moas Chitim Program in Atlanta
Dedicated to H. Bergman’s Memory
Morris Freedman, chairman,
and Thomas Makover, treasurer,
will head Atlanta Moas Chitim
Committee’s annual effort to
raise'.funds for Maos Chitim, the
traditional way of helping needy
Jews to celebrate Passover.
Mr. Freedman pointed out that
this will be the first year in more
than three decades that Harris
Bergman, a founder and leader
of the Committee, will be absent.
He died recently, with the thought
in his mind that it was time
for him to begin his work for
Maos Chitim. This year’s effort
is being dedicated therefore to
his memory.
Mr. Freedman and Mr. Mak
over stated that “Passover is the
Jewish festival of freedom com
memorating the deliverance of
the Jews from ancient Egypt. It
his been traditional with Jews the
world over to provide for the
needy at that festival. Atlanta
observes the same tradition. A
special Passover fund known as
the Maos Chitim Fund has been
established enabling contributors
to share those in need the bless
ings of a joyous Passover."
Serving with Mr. Freedman
and Mr. Makover as co-chairmen
of the Committee are the presi
dents of all the Jewish congrega
tions of Atlanta: James Arogeti,
president. Congregation Or Ve-
Shalom; Joseph Cuba, president,
Ahavath Achim Congregation;
Jack M. Goldberg, president,
Beth Jacob Congregation; Irwin
Krick, president, Congregation
Beth El; Sol T. Lipsius, presi
dent, Congregation Shearith Is
rael: Samuel A. Miller, president,
Hebrew Benevolent Congregation
(The Temple); H. Taratoot, pres
ident, Anshe S’Fard Congrega
tion.
All Jewish families who be
long to a congregation have re
ceived in the mails an urgent ap
peal to contribute to this fund.
If anyone has not been reached
he may send his contribution to

mittee, P. O. Box 4544* Atlanta
