Complete Supplies
and Equipment
For the Preparation
and Serving of Food
demption of .the ancient Hebrews
from Egyptian bondage, will be
ushered in with the first seder
starting at sundown, Monday,
March 26th.
The U. S. Air Force will fly a
rabbi from the states to a GI se
der in Iceland, and will transport
a Jewish chaplain from McGuire
Air Force Base, N. J., to services
in Bermuda and the Azores.
These flights underline the vast
distances Jewish chaplains will
fly to services and the activity
of airlifts flying Jewish person
nel over great areas to services
in Korea, Japan, Hawaii, the
Philippines, Alaska, Germany,
France, England, Italy and the
Caribbean. Some 350 full and
part-time Jewish chaplains will
be involved in “Operation Glo
bal Seder.” Thousands of pounds
of kosher foods, matzah Hagga-
dahs and other Passover items
were shipped by JWB months in
advance for the seders and serv
ices around the globe.
Airlifts will carry Jewish GIs
from all points of the United
Kingdom to a mass seder to be
held at London’s largest kosher
restaurant. Complete Passover
coverage will be provided in the
Caribbean area thanks to a pre
holiday flight of 10,000 miles by
the USO-JWB worker in Pan
ama. A rabbi designated 6y
JWB’s Commission on Jewish
Chaplaincy flew before the hol
idays to Alaska for seder ar
rangements. The lone Jewish
chaplain with the Sixth U. S.
Fleet in the Mediterranean has
completod arrangements for
transportation by airlifts of Na
vy personnel to (Naples for se
ders.
The Four Questions will be re
cited at seders for U. S. person
nel on the high seas; and the hol
iday will be marked by lonely
men at desolate radar and air
weather stations and antiaircraft
and NIKE installations. For
these men and those in other
remote areas the JWB has ship
ped some 4,000 individual holi
day food boxes. These packages
furnished by JWB’s Women’s Or
ganizations’ Division, will be
opened at little “solo seders” —
and will reach their destination
in some instances by dogsled and
even helicopter. Five hundred
boxes were furnished by the
Passover League of Philadelphia.
