TBB SOUTHERN ISRAELITE
Paye Fifteen
HEAD TESTIMONIAL DINNER COMMITTEE . . . typical of the
partnership of men and women in the planning: and work for the
Abe Goldstein Testimonial Dinner is the teamwork of Meyer L.
Balser, chairman, and Mrs. Frank Garson, co-chairman of the com
mittee. Both leaders, with their vice-chairmen and committee work
ers, have been maintaining: an unprecedented pace of activity, aim-
in* at a record-breaking: success in honor of Abe Goldstein and for
Israel Bends.
MRS. ISRAEL D. SHAPIRO
Mrs. Shapiro Talks
to B.&P. Women
for Israel Bonds
Mrs. Israel D. Shapiro of
Augusta, one of the most active
Jewish women in the South and
a national leader of Hadassah,
will address a meeting of the
Business and Professional Group
of the Women’s Division of the
Atlanta Israel Bond Committee,
Monday, June 4, at 8:30 p.m., in
the home of Mrs. Kurt Homburg-
er, 1370 Pasadena Ave., N.E., it
was announced this week by Dr.
Rose A. Lahman, B. and P. chair
man and Celia Hoffman, Bond
chairman of the B. and P. group
of Hadassah.
Mrs. Shapiro, who will soon be
moving to Atlanta with her hus

was one of 22 women chosen
from a membership of 300,000 by
the National Hadassah to partici
pate. in their recent Leaders’
Tour of Israel. An eloquent
speaker, she will report on re
cent progress there.
Women’s activity for the Abe
Goldstein Testimonial Dinner
continues apace. Under the joint
leadership of Celia Hoffman and
Mrs. Cyrus Polan, Chen workers
have been scouring the communi
ty to promote new sales of Israel
Bonds. They have already re
ported many dinner reservations
and Bond purchases made in hon
or of Abe Goldstein.
The enrollment of National
Sponsors - women purchasing a
minimum of $1000 in Bonds —
is reaching a new peak. Co-chair
men in charge of this important
facet of the Israel Bond drive,
Mmes. Jennie Weinstein and J.
L. Saul, anticipate a dramatic in
crease in Sponsors by the night
of the Testimonial Dinner.
