DIGEST APPLAUDS
JEWISH PRESS
That no Jewish man or woman
can fully participate in the Jew
ish community and further its
purposes without subscribing to
a Jewish newspaper is a leading
point stressed in “Current Jew
ish Thought,” the digest of Jew
ish affairs and periodicals that
is issued from time to time by
the Jewish Information Bureau,
103 Park Avenue, New York 17,
New York. This number of the
bulletin is specially devoted to
a study of the Jewish press, es
pecially the English-Jewish press
in the United States, and a num
ber of interesting figures are
given aboutall types of these pe-
riodicalss and their rapid spread
through the country.
But the immedate purpose of
this digest is stated in the open
ing paragraph, which says:
“The Jewish Information Bu

quiries, questions as to how one

ideas and ideologies one has to
know the facts: in other words,
the news of what transpires with
in American Jewry and the Jew
ish world beyond. This first re
quirement is met by regularly
reading a newspaper and, if one
does not read the daily Yiddish
press, he should become a sub
scriber to one of the English-
Jewish newspapers that appear
in different cities in the United
States and of which type of pub-
