lassie from Brigadoon in the Mu
nicipal Theater Under-the-Stars
presentation of the smash hit
musical, “Brigadoon,” July 23-28
at the Chastain Park Ampitheater
in Atlanta. Curtain is nightly at
8:30 p.m.
Beth Parks, who came to the
United States five years ago from

widely praised shows to enjoy a
lengthy run on Broadway. Other
Broadway stars who will bring
“Brigadoon* to Georgia are Jack
Goode, Roy Johnson, Blaine Cord-
ner, Jeff Warren, Gloria Wallace,
Melton Moore, and Jim Albright.
Box Office rates to make a
Scotchman smile permit Georgians
to see a Broadway production in
Atlanta for $1 general admission,

Sky
Lake
—SAUTEE, Ga.
Following sunset Vesper Ser
vices on Friday nights, Sky Lake
Campers gather at Fire Point on
the shore of the lake to receive
awards for their achievements of
the week just ending. Last Fri
day several Atlantans were hon
ored for their mastery of camp
ing skills. Wendy Smith won two
awards, her Stargazer and her
Comet in Swimming. The May
brothers were also honored, Tom
my for Land Sports and Dick
for Land Sports and Tumbling.
Others whose athletic prowess
was recognized with the Star
gazer in Sports were Jerold
Frankel, Richard Pressman and
Toby Brown.
Sky Lake Camps’ outpost at
Lake Burton is the scene of a
busy Waterskiing Program.
Headed by Johnny De Miller, na
tional trick skiing champion, the
program is training campers to
participate in a Blue Ridge Moun
tain version of the Show at Cy
press Gardens. Sky Lake may
may not be able to boast of
Esther Williams, but some Atlanta
Campers are definitely following
in her footsteps. Among these
are Judy Glenn, Beth Greenblatt,
Natalie Klausman, Leslie Klo-
ville, Amy Levow, Ann Lynn
Schwartz, Claudia Lewis, and
Elaine Feldman. Boys from At
lanta are also learning to ski
on the twelve-mile-long lake.
Some Atlanta ski enthusiasts are
Paul Ehrlich, Dick Greenberg,
Robert Lowenthal, Tommy and
Dick May, Gary and Chuck Mar
cus, and Richie Reiman. All are
looking forward to the comple
tion of the new Ski-Jump that
De Miller is building. It will be
the only Jump at Lake Burton,
and ought to attract a lot of at
tention.

Camp Rutledge
The highlight of the past seven
days at Camp Rutledge was the
presentation by the Rutledge Ha-
bima players of the production
“Mikado” to the campers and
staff. This was a fully costumed
production. At the conclusion,
the audience stood and gave a
rousing ovation to the staff who
directed the show and the entire
camper cast. (Full details con
cerning the “Mikado” and its cast
below.)
On Monday, July 7, the older
girl unit boarded the camp truck
for a trip to Madison, Ga. They
wandered through the small
country town window-shopping
and finally spending a brief por
tion of their canteen allowance.
The older boys and girls later in
the afternoon had a cookout at
Brantley Park which is located in
the center of the Hard Labor
Creek State Park tract. Unit Lead
ers, Dave Kletzky and Helen
Tyber report that the cooking was
excellent and that all ate hard

Tuesday’s highlight was the an
nual camper and counselor game.
For the first time in 6 years, the
campers defeated the Rutledge
staff by a score of 7-1.
The 1956 counselor Hunt went
on as scheduled Tuesday night.
During this program, the coun
selors hid in a clearly defined
area.
On Friday morning, a “Silent”
breakfast was held in the Rut
ledge dining hall. Throughout the
meal, not a word was spoken. All
requests for food were made by
the use of cards or signals. In
addition, campers were reminded
that it was impolite to point. It
was an amazing demonstration
of controlled silence and a great
deal of fun for everyone concern
ed. In addition, the usual break
fast songs in pantomime were
sung without a sound issuing
forth from the throats of the
assemblage.
