meat cubes, optional
Wipe the metal skewers with
oil, for easy placing of meat cubes.
Place the meat cubes in the mar
inade to half cover at least, mak
ing the marinade of vinegar (or
your favorite wine), oil and sea
sonings. Let stand in a glass bowl
or glass baking dish in the refrig
erator for 2 hours or more, turn

period. Arrange the green pepper
squares and mushrooms between
cubes of meat on the skewers,
leaving enough space for the met
al skewers to rest on edges of
broiler. When the coals are glow
ing red, it is time to place skew
ered meat and vegetables so they
will be about 8 inches above the
heat. Broil till nicely browned
before turning. Serve sizzling hot.

SHISH-KEBABS for FUN
Expecting a crowd for the next
picnic? Well, how about the very
popular Shish-Kebabs everyone’s
talking about? They are really
no trouble at all to prepare and
have ready for the charcoal broil
er. Besides, the men-of-the-fam-
ily can take over after the skewers
are readied and placed in their
hands for “cooking.” For 10 to
12 servings you should have 6
to 7 pounds of boneless lamb —
shoulder bones removed, cut in
to 1-inch cubes for quick-broil
ing — is about the most satis
factory. Cut cubes of meat thick
er if you like, but remember to
place them in the following mar
inade and keep in the refrigerator
at least 2 hours before arranging
on skewers. Allow one skewerful

Hadassah Taking
Orders for Bulbs
Planning a bulb garden? Buy
the bulbs from Hadassah.
The group is currently taking
orders for November delivery,
according to Mrs. Louis Smith,
president.
She pointed out that the Ha
dassah chapter is selling top
quality tulips, hyacinths, daffo
dils, crocus and iris—and many
varieties and colors to help its
Israeli projects.
“Your garden will be an eye
catcher with Hadassah bulbs,” she
announced. “They make wonder
ful house'gifts for friends who’ve
moved into new homes — as well
as for friends who like to garden.
Gift certificates will be sent to
recipients now. The bulbs will
be delivered in November.”
Bulbs can be ordered through
Mrs. Smith* at TR. 4-1531, Mrs.
Dave Alterman at TR. 2-7426, or
Mrs. Henry Caplan at EX. 9864.
