To Hear Mackay
"Gift of Democracy” will be
the subject of the luncheon meet-
mg of the Temple Sisterhood
Monday, Nov. 5, at 12:30 p.m at
the Temple Hall.

State Legislature.
A graduate of Emorv Universi-
ty, Mr. Mackay now' heads his
alma mater s alumni association

Jack Raiser Joins
Insurance Agency
Announcement was made this
week that Jack Balser, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Balser has
joined the staff of the Sidney Saul
Agency at 40 Pryor St., S.’w.
Mr. Balser specialized in in-
sl ,? ra '? ce at the Wharton School
of Finance and Commerce at the
Univerrsity of Pennsylvania, from
which he was graduated in 1955
He was a Dean’s List student and
in the upper 10 per cent of his
class. As an undergraduate he
was an officer of Sigma Alpha
Mu Fraternity, on the. staff of
the Daily Pennsylvanian, the
student newspaper, a member of
Hillel and secretary of the In
surance Society.
A native of Atlanta, Mr. Bal-
ser graduated from Henry Grady
High School, where he was ac
tive in student publications. He
had been prominent in Atlanta
Jewish youth groups, serving as
president of the J.A.C. Club
treasurer of the Southern Re
gion of Young .Judaea and a mem
ber of the runner-up team in the
national \oung Judaea Debating
Contest.
The Sidney Saul Agency is
an exponent of the ‘‘audit-analy
sis” theory of service in the gen
eral insurance field and Mr. Bal
ser will specialize in this phase
of operations.

new series of Friday Oneg Shab-
bat evenings at 8:15.
Under the leadership of Rabbi
Emanuel Feldman, various themes
of current interest in Jewish liv
ing will be discussed, with direct
participation of all who are pre
sent.
A feature of this year’s series
of lectures is the fact that the
entire membership of Congrega
tion Beth Jacob was surveyed as
to preference of subject matter.
As a direct result of the survey,
the following themes emerged:
What Jews Believe,” “What Jews
Practice,” How To Read the
Bible,” “Great Jewish Books,”
One evening will be set aside
every month for answering ques
tions submitted by the congrega
tion.
These Oneg Shabbat evenings
are open , to the public.

duct Sabbath services at the Or-

day, October 26. Services will
begin at 8:30 p.m. with Sidney
Berger conducting. Following the
services, the. Oneg Shabbat will
be sponsored by Mr. and Mrs.
Martin Fels.
Dr. Robert Scharf, associate pro
fessor of Social Science at Georg
ia Tech, will address the con
gregation during the service. His
topic will be ‘‘The Trend Toward
Religion.” Members and friends
are urged to attend.

Sea Scrolls” will be the subject
of the next meeting of the At
lanta Zionist District at 8:30 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 12, it was announc
ed by Joseph Gross, chairman of
Education-Program Committee.
A panel consisting of a Catho
lic, Protestant and Jewish spokes
man will lead off the discussion.
There will be tfn opportunity
for questions ;yid participation
from the audience. Officials said
this meeting promises to be “as
stimulating as the October dis
cussion on the Suez Crisis.”
