Columbus Jewry Recption
Nov. 13 for Bonds for Israel
COLUMBUS—Yael Dayan, the
18-year-old daughter of Moshe
Dayan, head of Israel’s Army of
Defense will be honored at a re
ception in the home of Dr. and
Mrs. A. J. Kravtin, 1110 Preston
Drive, Columbus, Tuesday even
ing, Nov. 13, it was announced
this week by Aaron Cohen, chair
man of the Columbus Israel Bond
Committee, in whose behalf Miss
Dayan will visit Columbus.
The meeting at the Kravtin
home will be the first activity of
the Fall campaign in behalf of
State of Israel Bonds in Colum
bus. The committee has set a goal
of $75,000 in Israel Bonds to be
sold locally during their drive.
Serving with Mr. Cohen are Mrs.
Aaron Funk, co-chairman and
Philip Pomerance, in charge of
reservations for a forthcoming
dinner that will climax the fall
activities.

raeli publications, Miss Dayan
will shortly return home to enter

parents, Yael is a brilliant stu
dent and precocious writer, hav
ing begun her journalistic career
at the age of 14, writing under a
“nom de plume." She has written
extensively for magazines and

newspapers in Israel. Last sum
mer, on vacation in Europe, she
worked as correspondent for
Davar and wrote several Hebrew
short wave broadcasts for BBC.
During her short stay in the
United States, Miss Dayan, has
won many friends for Israel as
well as herself by her straight
forward presentation of Israel’s
problems with special reference
to the effect on family life and
the youth of the country.

places will be reserved for Trust
ees, Guardians and Sponsors.”
Trustees are men and women
who purchase a minimum of $10,- 1
000 in Israel Bonds in a calendar
year. Guardians of Israel are men
who purchase at least $1,000 in
Bonds and Sponsors are women
who purchase a minimum of $1,-
000 in Bonds.
As a first step in the organiza
tion of the Eleanor Roosevelt
Dinner, the committee has en
rolled the support of all the ma
jor membership Jewish organiza
tions in Atlanta. They are Aha-
vath Achim Congregation, Ameri
can Jewish Committee, Atlanta
Zionist Council, Beth El Congre
gation, Atlanta and Gate City
Lodges of B’nai B’rith, B’nai
B'rith Women, Brandeis Women,
Farband, Hebrew Benevolent
Congregation (Temple), Jewish
War Veterans Post 112 and Auxi
liary, Mizrachi Men and Women.
All six groups of Hadassah are
cooperating as are Or Ve Shalom
Congregation, Pioneer Women
No. 1 and Golda Meir, Shearith
Israel Congregation, Workmen’s
Circle Branch 207 and the Zionist
Organization of Atlanta.
Atlantians Invited to Jan Bart
Rally Monday at
Membership of Atlanta’s four
major men’s organizations have
completed plans for November 5
rally for Israel Bonds which will
be held in the auditorium of the
new Atlanta Jewish Community
Center.
Starring Jan Bart, a singer-
humorist whose dedication to Is
rael is internationally famous, the
rally is called “A Night in Israel"
and is being co-sponsored by At
lanta and Gate City Lodges of
B’nai B’rith, Jewish War Veter
ans, Atlanta Post 112; and At
lanta Zionist District.
A well known entertainment
figure, particularly in New York,
Bart stars on his own television
show there and has been seen
in Atlanta on several network ap
pearances, notably with Milton
Berle and Ed Sullivan. A product

of New York State’s famed
‘‘Borscht Belt” he was the logical
choice for a starring role in the
successful motion picture ‘‘Cat-
skill Honeymoon.”
On a recent visit to Israel,
Bart, who has appeared at count
less rallies and dinners in behalf
of State of Israel Bonds, was
cited by Prime Minister Ben-
Gurion and President Ben Zvi for
his outstanding efforts as a “Bond
salesman."

sic, Bart’s natural flair for story
telling has made him one of the
