Massell Dental Clinic Starts
Dental Program for Children
Rabbi Jacob M. Rothschild,
President of the Jewish Social
Service Federation of Atlanta, has
announced that the Ben Massell
Dental Clinic has inaugurated a
program of Dental Health Edu
cation for school children. The
first group visited the Clinic Jan
uary 30. Nineteen children from
the sixth grade of the Crew Street
School received instruction in the
care of their teeth. Further ses-

Rabbi Rothschild pointed out
that the inauguration of this pro
gram coincided with the observ
ance of the 9th National Chil
dren’s Dental Health Week - Feb
ruary 3rd - 9th.
Referring to dental health Dr.
Harry Lyons, president of the
American Dental Association said:
“Early and continued dental
health education is the only re
alistic approach to reducing the
staggering rate of dental ills.
Much of the nation’s dental di
sease can be eliminated if chil
dren learn proper dental habits
while they are young and con
tinue to practice them through
out their lives.”
The Ben Massell Dental Clinic
will continue instruction in good
mouth care as one way of setting
a youngster on the road to life
long dental health,” Rabbi Roths

Other Clinic services include:
examination; oral diagnosis and
X-ray; dental hygiene; simple fill
ings for adults and children; mi
nor surgery and extractions; root-
canal work; special cases requir
ing dentures; treatment of gum
diseases and oral pathology; and
a preventive program for the
straightening of teeth.
The Clinic is staffed by thirty-
one outstanding Atlanta dentists,
who give their services free. A
group of civic-minded women as
sist as volunteers.
The Ben Massell Dental Clinic
is a Red Feather Service and is
operated by the Jewish Social Ser
vices Federation of Atlanta.
