Beck-Guthman
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph W. Beck
Jr. of Bessemer, Ala., announce
the engagement of their daughter,
Billie Beck, to Siegfried Guthman
Jr., son of Mrs. Siegfried Guth
man and the late Mr. Guthman
of Atlanta.
Miss Beck will graduate in June
from the University of Alabama,
where she is president of Alpha
Epsilon Phi, a member of Stu
dent Government Cabinet, Mortar
Board and Who’s Who.
Mr. Guthman is a graduate of
Georgia Tech, where he was pres
ident of Phi Epsilon Pi, a member
of Alpha Pi Mu and Tau Beta
Pi. He is employed by the At
lanta Envelope Co.
The wedding will take place in
Birmingham in July.
Damson-Mcndel
Miss Leola Damson, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Damson of
Huntsville, Alabama, became the
bride of Sidney P. Mendel, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Robert
Mendel of Atlanta, February 10,
at the Temple B’nai Sholom In
Huntsville. Rabbi Harry H. Ep
stein performed the ceremony.
Herbert Mendel served as his
brother’s best man. The ushers
included Irving May, Nelson Co
hen, Jerry Damson, Leon Bloom
and Harry Seitz.
Mrs. Irving May of Birming
ham was matron of honor for her
sister. Mrs. Nelson Cohen and
Mrs. Herbert Mendel were brides
maids. Gail Cohen was flower
girl and Marty Cohen was ring-
bearer.
Following a wedding trip to
Nassau the couple will reside at
1364 Markan Court, N. E., At
lanta.

Miss Wolson is attending Arm
strong College where she majors
in secretarial course. Mr. Fried
is serving with the United States
Air Force at Hunter Air Force
Base.
The wedding is being planned
for June 2.
Miss Jennie Fierman of New
York is visiting in Atlanta with
her sister, Mrs. Edward Krick,
and Mr. Krick.

two weeks in Miami and other

family have moved into their new

returned from Washington, D. C.,
where she attended the wedding
of her granddaughter, Esther Jan
ice Lahman to Ernest F. Zimmer

Freedman Bar Mitzvah

Friday Service
For Beth El
Beth El Sisterhood is going to
conduct the regular late Friday
evening service of the congrega
tion on Friday, Feb. 15, at 8:30
p.m., at the Or Ve Shalom Syna
gogue.
Mrs. Robert Tand is chairman
of this special event. Mrs. Stan
ley R. Friedman will conduct ser
vices: Mrs. Frank Kaufmann will
give the sermonette; Mrs. Carol
Porter will speak on the portion
of the week; and a special Sis
terhood choir for the evening will
feature Mrs. Marvin Katzin and
Mrs. Melvin Warshaw as soloists.
Refreshments and an Oneg
Shabbat will follow. Friends and
relatives are cordially invited to

last week in memory of Mrs.
Anna Lease, a former resident of
Savannah and recently of Dublin,

Jewish Education of Savannah
presented a program of music at
the Hebrew Woman’s Aid Society
meeting in observance of Jewish
Music Month.
The B’nai B’rith Girls conduct
ed the Shabbat services last Fri
day under the direction of Rabbi
Herbert Berger at the Agudath
Achim Synagogue.
The B’nai B’rith Girls and
Aleph Zadick Aleph sold peanuts
and balloons for the polio cam
paign, “Teens Against Polio,” and
raised $852.64, it was announced.

Educational Center, according to

Mrs. E. M. Manning will lead
a discussion on the film which
tells the story of Judah Touro,
New Orleans philanthropist.
