Baden Jewry, have jointly visited
two neglected camp cemeteries
near Tolouse, where some 6,000
Baden Jews deported to Southern
France in 1940 are buried. The
City of Karlsruhe has declared its
willingness to participate in the
rehabilitation of these desolate
graveyards.

Anniversary
JERUSALEM, Dec. 1. (JTA)—
The Jerusalem Post, published by
Gershon Agronow the Mayor of
Jerusalem — to day marked its
25th anniversary as the first Eng
lish-language newspaper in this
country. It published a special
supplement including messages of
congratulations and articles re
calling milestones in the paper’s
history.
Founded by the Jewish Tele
graphic Agency as the Palestine
Bulletin, the newspaper later be
came known as the Palestine
Post and, when the State of Is
rael was established, as the Jeru
salem Post. Message from Presi
dent Ben Zvi and Premier Ben
Gurion paid tribute to the Post’s
achievements through the years

Bum $30M0 Bonds
NEW YORK, (JTA) — Thomas
R. Mullen, a Roman Catholic in
dustrialist, president of the Le
high Structural Steel Company
and one of Allentown’s outstand
ing civic and business leaders, has
purchased $30,000 in Israel bonds
to “help strengthen Israel as a
center of democracy in the Mid
dle East."
Mr. Mullen presented a check
for his purchase to Israel Am
bassador Abba Eban at a confer
ence in New York. He stated that
he made the purchase in the be
lief that all Americans, regard
less of religion, should participate
in the upbuilding of Israel.
In acknowledging Mr. Mullen’s
purchase. Ambassador Eban said:
“This action reflects the close bond
of understanding and cooperation
between the people of America
and the people of Israel. It is a
source of great encouragement to
us that non-Jews are participating
in the economic development of
our country through their Israel
Bond purchases. We are confident
that their faith in us will be con
firmed.”

Honors Nazi Victim
VIENNA, (JTA) — The Vienna
Jewish Community named its
newly reconstructed headquarters
building in honor of Desider
Friedmann, the last president of
the community before the Ans
chluss in 1938. Mr. Friedmann
died in the Auschwitz gas chamb
ers.

vannah for two talks, to help
launch the campaign to raise $15,
000 as the contribution of Savan
nah Jewry towards the erection
of an addition to the Atlanta
Home. Henry R. Friedman, im
mediate past president of the Sa
vannah Jewish Council is serving
as general chairman of the cam
paign.
