Gildersleeve Says
Times Wants Israel
To Dominate Mid East
NEW YORK, (AJP)_-In a let
ter to the New York Times, Dr.
Virginia C. Gildersleeve bitterly
complains against that news
paper’s editorial policy vis-a-vis
Nasser, chiding it for its support
of Israel.
“Sometimes I feel that you may
advocate encouraging Israel to
conquer Egypt and rule it,” wrote
the colleague of Dorothy Thomp
son. “But would Russia ever stand
aside and let Israel dominate the
whole Middle East?"
Apologizing for Egypt, Dr.
Gildersleeve further complained:
“Though we have treated both
Egypt and Nasser badly, what
wrong has Nasser done to the
U.S.? Not Egypt, but Britain,
France and Israel were adjudged
aggressors by the UN in the Suez
incident.”
