instant Hit With Family and Guests
READY-TO-SERVE DROMEDARY DATE-NUT ROLL IS
FAVORITE STANDBY FOR SNACKS AND DESSERTS
TASTES LIKE A MILLION, COSTS ONLY PENNIES — And
the lanlini; freshness of this luseinus, varmint-sealed dessert rake
makes it the ideal “helper-outer” whenever the occasion rails
for an unusually tempting snack. Kosher too—it I> nrs the (LI)
seal of strictest kashruth on the label.
It's probably just pure coinci
dence—but have you ever noticed
the way unexpected guests some
how manage to drop in for a
visit at the precise moment when
your pantry la embarrassingly
bare? A pretty problem, indeed,
for the woman who pride" herself
on her hospitality!
Easy Answer to Problem
There is, however, a simple
solution to this problem that
will do any hostess proud, as
countless homemakers have dis
covered: keep a supply of ready-
to-serve Dromedary Date-Nut
Roll on hand—and whatever the
time or the circumstance, you’re
set to greet your guests almost
instantly with a royal treat.
Slice it thick, slice it thin; toast
It, cube it, spread it with cream
cheese or top it with syrup,
berries, preserves; scoop it out
and fill it with fruit salad, apple
sauce, ice cream—whichever of
these you have at hand. How
ever you serve it, the tempting
taste of Dromedary Date-Nut
Roll makes it everyone's instant
favorite as a snack or dessert.
Wholesome, Energy-Rich
Made to an exclusive Dromed
ary recipe and produced by an
exclusive Dromedary process, this
dark and wonderfully delicious
dessert cake combines the whole

luscious taste of crisp, chunky
walnuts and the world’s choicest
dates, vacuum-sealed in tins to
provide indefinite protection of
the characteristic, tender-textured
freshness and inviting ilavor of
this popular treat.
One note of caution; If you
want to be sure of an available
supply at all times, it is advis
able to stock up in quantity, as a
precaution against the pantry-
raiders in your family, from the
youngest member up! Dromedary
Nut-Rolls are the youngsters’
favorites for wholesome between-
meals snacks, as an inducement
to reluctant milk-drinkers and as
the perfect answer to the teen
ager’s urge to ‘‘do it myself” in
fixing a snack for friend"

Taffel Sisters Win Honors for Beauty
At Sophia Newcomb; Scholarship at Grady
Shirley and Carolyn Taffel
have a way of accumulating
honors.
The two sisters are daughters
of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Taffel of
Atlanta.
In early April, the Taffels re
ceived word from their oldest
daughter—there are two others
—that she had been selected as
a beauty queen at Sophie New
comb College in New Orleans,
where she was a sophomore and
majoring in European history.
The honor came from “Urchin,”
student magazine of Tulane Uni
versity. She was selected by
several New York beauty ex
perts.
A few days later, the Taffels
learned that Carolyn had been
selected valedictorian for the
Henry Grady High graduates.
She delivered the address on
June 4 as the number one stu
dent in the Senior Class.
Carolyn had served as vice
president of the Grady Library
Club for two years, secretary of
the French Club, vice president
of the Joe K’s—social club, Big
Sister of the JOJ Club of BBG,
past secretary of Junior Hadas-
sah and a member of BBG 176.
She had also been sweetheart
of the AEP’s at Georgia Tech.
Carolyn had also received

Member, and Herbert A. Friend-
man, Executive Vice-Chairman.
The climax of the Conference
came when 3,000 other tourists
and Israelis joined the 500 Con
ference participants in a huge
night-time meeting at the Uni
versity Amphitheatre in Jeru
salem. Prime Minister Ben-Gur-
ion was the featured speaker at
this meeting. Israeli choirs and
dance groups performed in the
flood-lit Amphitheatre, which
was draped with Israeli and
American flags.
In addition to attending the
Jerusalem Conference, the com
munal leaders will travel to
every corner of the country to
see for themselves how their
support of the UJA has helped
the Jewish Agency build new
lives for nearly a million immi
grants who have been given a
haven in Israel.
The tours included visits to
many of the health and rehabili
tation centres and facilities for
the aged, orphaned and handi
capped maintained by the UJA-
financed Joint Distribution Com
mittee. Of equal interest were
visits to immigrant absorption
centres and new agricultural-in
dustrial region under develop
ment by the Jewish Agency to
provide homes and livelihoods
for the influx of newcomers.
Among the purposes of the
UJA Anniversary Conference
was to meet and hear important
messages from leaders of Is
rael’s Government and the Jew
ish Agency; review the progress
of the 1958 UJA campaign; pres
ent to the UJA cash proceeds
from affiliated community cam
paigns; assess the continuing re
quirements of UJA agencies, and
set plans to spur maximum re
sults in the final half of the
year’s drive.
special recognition in the form
of recommendation that she con
tinue her education in college
from the National Merit Scholar
ship Corporation. She had been
rated in the top two per cent of
Georgia’s high school seniors
and although she might have
been eligible for a scholarship
she did not apply. This fall, she
will enter Goucher College in
Maryland, planning to major in
English. Meanwhile she is serv
ing during summer as a coun
selor at Blue Star Camps.
Her sister Shirley finished at
Henry Grady High in 1956 when
she was president of the Joe
K’s. She had been a member of
BBG 176 and Junior Hadassah
and was a leader of a group of
Young Judaea girls.
At Sophia Newcomb, she is a
member of Alpha Epsilon Phi
sorority and La Textulia, Span
ish honorary society, and works
on Jambolaya, the school year
book.
