MYSTERY OF MIXED-UP SHOE
Mom’s Fiction About Shoe Lost at Dance
Comes True for Daughter: Who’s Got It?
DEAR EDITOR:
Truth is stranger than fiction I’ve always been told, and
last week I discovered that “truth is stranger than fiction!”
Many years ago, while attending old Commercial High School
in Atlanta we had to write a story on funny experiences we
had had during that year. After racking my brain I couldn’t
come up with a thing that sounded funny enough which had
actually happened, so I delved into the fiction world and
came up with a story that I had lost one of my shoes at a
party and had to hop all the way home. Along with a lot of
other nonsense, this at least rated me an “A” grade.
Last week my young daughter, age 14, was getting dressed
to attend the BIG DANCE in her life, when she suddenly dis
covered, 5 minutes before date time that she had one plastic
shoe of her own and one a different size and shape, belong
ing to ? ? ?
It seams that in this modern age young ladies remove
their shoes at dances and then when the dance is over—all
dive into the corner of the room to retrieve them, a notable
innovation for today’s teen-agers—this was the result.
If anyone who reads this discovers that their daughter
has a plastic shoe, size 6'k that doesn’t match her own, please
contact the Southern Israelite so that we may arrange a swap
. . . and bring a happy ending to the mystery of the mixed-up
shoe.
